Looking for a sling for my 6.5 CM Tikka bolt gun. It's configured to be a lighter carrying rifle, 20" barrel, 2-12x Leupy scope, weighs 7.7 lbs scoped and loaded.

Looking for the sling to be a fairly light and simple 2-pointer to attach with swivels, preferably a man-made material rather than leather. It will be used for two things:
1. Carry
2. Accuracy aid

Challenge is I don't have much experience with item (2), in a hunting rifle (always used bipods, blinds, or offhand). So I don't know what I don't know...

From a little research on using slings this way with "practical", "field", or hunting rifles, I see a few slings that MIGHT be what I'm looking for.

1. Wilderness Rhodesian (https://www.thewilderness.com/langlois-rhodesian-sling/wilderness-langlois-rhodesian-sling/) sling
2. T.I.S. Slip Cuff Precision (https://tacticalintervention.com/Slip-Cuff-Precision-Rifle-Sling-p132639985) sling
3. VTAC hybrid (https://www.vikingtactics.com/product-p/vtac-mk2-hb.htm) padded sling. Ok I'll admit this isn't traditionally a bolt gun sling, but I threw this in there because (1) It looks like it would work for the way I want to use it, (2) I already have one :D and know I like using these with my AR's, though I've never used them with the AR's for anything other than carry.

Would be interested to hear feedback on these slings, or any I've missed that are worth looking at. Also, if anybody knows of some good tutorials on practical sling use (for accuracy) with hunting rifles, please share linkage.

I use a Magpul RLS (https://magpul.com/firearm-accessories/slings/slings/magpul-rls-sling.html?mp_global_color=178#) on my Marlin 336, and I plan to pick one up for my 10/22 at some point, though it’s primarily using the front stud for a bipod.
It works as a basic carry sling, can be looped Rhodesian-style, and has a little adjustability built in. Works well for what I’m using it for, and very lightweight.

20 bucks.

Great tip--read up on it, ordered one. Sounds like Magpul studied the slings out there that do precisely what I'm looking for, including the Rhodesian, and offered this as an improved model. It weighs roughly half of what my VTAC does.

Just get a regular old green cotton M1 sling. They're like 20 bucks, very adjustable, stay on your shoulder very well, dry fast, and make a good loop sling.

On my lightweight rifles I use a Bandera Dominator sling. A little more money than the Magpul, but it includes QD swivels in the price. Super easy to adjust and about as light as a sling can get. There is no loop, so you basically only use it as a Hasty sling.

Anybody try RifleCraft’s slings?

I have one on a Tikka T3X and I like it. It is well-made and works well as a shooting aid.

Got the Magpul RLS and it looks great. Unfortunately the swivels that came with my Tikka aren't quite wide enough, I need a true 1.25" swivel. Ordered some GrovTec swivels.

Check out a proctor sling. I love them slowly converting all my rifles to to them. There is a padded and non-padded version. Adjustment is very quick and tight. I’m putting one on a bolt gun soon myself.

You might take a look at the Turner saddlery GP biothane sling as well. It is very well made.

In my experience once you have experienced a well thought out, well built, well designed shooting sling, you will just hang up the carry slings like the M1 sling and not look back. They aren't shooting slings and can't compare to one.

I have used the M1 sling, the 1907 style, Rhodesian, ching sling for scout rifles, and I now trying out the Galco Marksman sling.

not associated with the high speed tactic cool image, but it is well thought out, and so far appears well built. it is the only "all in one" carry/shooting sling that I have tried so far that actually does a well balanced job of both.

Slings are something I like to go look at in person. Slings can hang an a shelf by the hundreds and they are an inventory item that moves.
So all LGS's and Sporting good stores have a bunch of them on the shelf. Sling shopping in person actually works.

It's not like you are shopping for an odd ball item here.

Not overcomplicated, made by BTDT people who are big on customer service:
https://savvysniper.com/slings#7461fe5a-fe6e-4f37-a7b6-9e441810f3e3

And this, more BTDT:

Both I think are very reasonably priced.

I have:
Turner saddlery competition biothane sling
Turner GP biothane sling (2)
Montana Sling (2)
Andy’s leather Rhodesian sling (2)
Andy’s Ching sling on the way
Tactical Innovations cuff sling
Vickers tactical slings (4)
Magpul slings various (4)
Gi Canvas sling

For carrying, I prefer a padded Vickers or Montana slings. The wider Montana sling is better than the thin.

The TIS sling is great for shooting if you want to go through the trouble of really using a cuff.

The Rhodesian was a bit of a disappointment. It seems like it can be set as a good carry strap or a good shooting aid, but it is not easily adjusted, one to another.

The biothane GP sling is a nice minimalist all weather all purpose strap for carrying a light rifle and works well as a hasty sling.

All have held up well.

I’m in the market for a sling for my Bergara. Hunting style sling that allows for offhand shooting support. Magpul looks inexpensive and quality. I’m wondering what attachments are of good quality to hook to the sling swivels.

Someone gave me a latigo sling. Seemed great except the one I was given was old. It snapped on a rotted section.

I’m looking at maybe either a new one, Magpul or a turner.

I've been working on switching my "practical" rifles over from a bunch of random shit to Magpul RLS's. They're simple, cheap, and effective.

What attachments do you guys prefer? Grovtec?

Yeah, I use a lot of GrovTec. Mostly their heavy duty push-button QD and Mil-Force locking swivels. They've served me well so far...No complaints.

1.25” grovtec seem to be out of stock all over other than nickel plated

Found some and bought em and the sling.

I agree with Rmorris, definitely checkout the Turner saddlery GP biothane...It should work perfectly on your bolt action sniper rifle (https://pickairsoft.com/spring-bolt-action-airsoft-sniper-rifle/)

I keep waiting for Randy Cain's Practical Rifle class to end up on in the southeast as I've heard it's fantastic and the use of slings is extensive. I've never bought a sling for anything but my 10/22 as I learned how to use one in multiple Appleseed Shoots, Subscribing for when class comes around.

For my hunting rifles I have modified my Vickers padded slings by taking off the slider. They work great for me. I have them on 3 of my rifles

May I respectfully strongly suggest you give this sling your strong consideration:
https://www.ultimategunsling.com/store/-p131321109

I have them on EVERY bolt (5) and lever (3) rifle, muzzleloader (3) and turkey shotgun (3) (14 in all) I own. Have been using them for 20+ years. Own a large box of other slings as i have tried MANY and not a single one comes even close to the functionality, usefulness and nuke bomb proofness of this sling.

I got #1 for the same rifle they use in their pics. Had to tap a hole in the wood to set it up proper, but easy enough.

I have several "Rhodesian and Mag-pul RLS's" and am happy with both.
