View Full Version : I need a lightweight "heavy" barrel.
Lookin for a lightweight "Heavy" barrel as I live in Maryland and any barrels I use for AR builds have to either say HBAR or Heavy on them or in their titles.
I've used the Faxon "Heavy Fluted" barrels before and they are great but wondering if theres any other games in town.
Not really heavy light weight... but I'd take a look at this.

Have you considered having one of your current heavy barrels fluted or reprofiled? Or is that a big no-no?

They’re out of stock at the moment (what isn’t?), but Centurion Arms has a “mid-weight” profile that has the option of HBAR stamped on it. It’s chrome-lined and cold hammer forged, if that’s important to you.

That BCM looks promising even though it says middle weight... will have to check details.

No idea but I cant say I've ever been stopped with any of my pre-ban gear... Certainly dont carry around my "receipts" from Faxon saying my recent "heavy fluted" barrels are within spec...

Our MPR barrels are available with HBAR Marking.

prez1967's avatar closely approximates the face I'm making right now.

I would take a good look at the Black River Tactical barrel Clint posted above. They are accurate and high quality. Long thread in technical discussion on them
They are gassed properly, have a good profile, intermediate gas system for soft shooting

I only have about 100 rounds through my 16" MPR but I think its gonna be the magic tube. If that passes your state's restrictive laws I would go for it.

That is the first thing I thought of as well.
Hodge Defense has a medium-ish profile barrel. I have the 14.5" one on a carbine. Mid-length gas. Pricey though.

Why don't you just get the barrel you want and get HBAR engraved. Many shops now have laser engravers and could do the work in five minutes.
