I have only had my Kimber for about 2 months and have only fired 100 rounds and I love it. But I really want an AR and am affraid that soon I will not be able to get one. I am in college so I have to sacrifice one for the other. With that in mind do I sell my Kimber to fund an AR and later on buy a replacement 1911? I have always dreamed of owning a 1911 and now I do but I really want an AR, 1911s will always be on the shelf (I hope). OBTW someone offered me $950 for my stainless TLE. What would you guys do?

I'd take the deal, then crawfish..no wait, wrong answer.

Personally, I would get the AR. But I sure would miss that .45 till I could replace it.

Keep the pistol. A pistol is more practical.

ARs will be available later. If necessary, I'll punch one of these Stripped Lower hoarders in the head and make them sell you one when your cash position is better.

Keep the 1911. Its more useful for defensive purposes in homes and such, and the ammo is cheaper. You still have time for an AR and eventually this panic buying will stop and prices will go back to normal.

The panic is eventually going to die down, and as a result there very well could be such a surplus of ARs and Accessories in the market to cause prices to drop.

As many have said the .45 has a lot more utility than an AR at this point (CCW), but I am not sure what state you live in so I do not know how difficult getting a CCW is.

If you can get an AR that you like for a decent price, get it.........1911's are a dime a dozen. You will be able to get a pistol anytime........an AR.....may not always be up for sale.

Well if Obama has his way, 1911's will be banned to. They are semi auto, so to him, they are "assault weapons" and since they were used by the army and are still used in the military, it is a weapon "that belongs on foreign battlefields".

Keep your .45

I avoided the panic entirely. Talked to the local hardcore AR shooters and found out who to see about a build. Glad I did. I provided a lower and they are doing everything else. Cost me a deposit to start. No shortage of parts there, none. Only thing is the wait. But in 6 weeks I'll have what I want in a rifle.

Screw retail store counters for now. Go see a good smith. Might be surprised what he can do for you. Chances are he'll actually appreciate the business too. ;)

Buy a lower for now and build up when you can afford the rest.

Keep the 1911. You'll regret not having a pistol after you have a rifle. Either that or sell the pistol outright, get a Rock Island 1911 for ~$400, couple of accessories for it, and perhaps a stripped AR lower. ;)

Keep the pistol and save your beer money for a lower! :D

I agree with most. Keep the .45...BUT buy a lower right now. You can get excellent lowers for around $150.00, and cheaper made ones for $100.

That is exactly what I did.

I traded my Kimber Ultra Raptor II for my AR.

I do not regret it.

I do have a Glock 19 and a little .38 snubbie though, so take that into account...
