I'd appreciate it if you could tell me if that right side retainer spring looks ok. I noticed a crack on the right grip, took it apart and frankly it looks like that spring is a paperclip hack job (I purchased the pistol used) . Whenever I pull the trigger the spring pushes against the grip and makes the crack worse. Is it normal for the grip to act as the spring guide? Thanks

Your trigger spring is not installed correctly. The left end needs to be in the notch on the trigger bar.

Even with the incorrect installation I doubt it would have cracked the grips. Buy a set of Hogues if you plan on carrying the gun.
