View Full Version : Hi all! CMMG owners? Got some questions.
It's a 1:7 twist barrel and I'm wondering if I have to go get heavier bullets than the .62 GR Winchesters I have. I haven't had a chance to try it out reallly and don't know if it will shoot straight or not. Anyone have one of these rifles?

The 1:7 twist will work great with your 62gr ammo.
I shoot mostly 55g out of a 1:7 and it works just fine.
55 and up is generally good to go, but keep in mind every brand / load is not created equal. If one 55 or 62 doesn't shoot that great, try another brand - don't write them all off.

I agree with the other guys. Do not go below a 55 grain. 1/7 is make for heavier rounds.

you can shoot almost anything in a 1/7. Its hard to get bullets to come apart but it can happen. I would stay away from the thin jacket soft points with a 1/7, but thats about it. Test to see what happens. Nosler 40's work fine in a 1/7 24". Most 1/7 will shoot fine with light bullets. Unless you are looking at shooting BR and over-stabilization, don't worry.
