This gun was assemembeled out of parts so I could get in on the whole AR pistol thing. It is basically an NOVESKE pistol lower and a COLT Commando 11.5 upper. I have painted it and fiddled with it. Shot thousands of rounds of 556 and tens of thousands of rounds of .22 through it. The LPK was colt. I started with the blade and moved to the SB but just left the magpul sling ring on the back out of laziness. Who knows how many optics I have had on this thing. Various aim points, Primary arms, Vortex, etc. I recently finally broke down and put a Centurion rail on it (which was dumb, since this amounts to a multi-100 dollar flashlight mount, lol). I cleaned her up and put a new gas tube in while I was at it. Fantastic, wonderful beater gun. I do almost all my plinking with it and my "serious" ar is collecting cobwebs.

Looks like I got an SB tactical in early 2019. At some point I got a BCM grip.

Summer 2020 with Aimpoint soon to migrate to my .308 Tavor

I put the rail on that I had been looking for for a year. I switched my padded sling to my Tavor (heavy) and put this bullshity but fast adjusting Savvy sniper sling on it because the lightweight carbine is better suited for the shoulder irritating bungee. Lots of scrap parts on this gun, runs like a king. Still shoots 2-2.5 Moa with 55 grain surplus and about 1.5 with 77 OTM (when I waste it and I run my magnifier)...all on milspec trigger. I have a vortex on it. I put it on there because it was cheap but honestly, the dot is crisper than the aim point M5 that I moved onto my tavor. I also put a PRI Gasbuster on there. I did this because this upper will give me mega blast when suppressed. I couldn't find a Geissele at the time (which I have on my other ar)

Thank you, the pics really do a great job of illustrating the story.

Well, I just thought it was funny to watch it change a million times but basically be the same damn thing. lol

This is good stuff. It's fun to evolve things like this.

And see how damn handy shortys are? I too tend to gravitate to mine more and more, so light and handy.

You didn't like the KAK blade? Lotta folks seem to hate 'em, I love mine, want for nothing. I'm cheap though!

Really cool. There’s a couple that I wish I had taken pictures of, with how many iterations they went through.

I think the only thing left is I should...at some point...put a better trigger on it.

This gun was assemembeled out of parts...
Please forgive me but can you explain what I need to do to have a similar gun "assemembeled" out of parts?
Asking for a friend.

(I actually do like what you have done.)

Sir, it takes time and money...and some patience. I build "retro" Colts out of collected original Colt parts over time. A barrel assembly, then a orphaned lower receiver, original vintage handguards, original lower parts kit, etc. Once I get enough, I build the weapon. In this case below is a clone of a Colt 723 utilizing a Government Carbine orphan lower, Colt Kaiser Aluminum upper, N1 stock, etc. Everything on it sans the the sling is Colt. I too like KISS weapons:

I just got caught up in the idea of the SB's adjustability. I still have the KAK and it was absolutely fine (and super simple and light). I leave the SB in the exact same position all the time so it wouldn't hurt me a bit to go back to the KAK (which is possible if the war between SB and the Atf results in them issuing a Cease and Desist letter regarding this particular brace).

As you can see, the upper and lower don't match. The upper is what some call the C7 upper. It is actually arsenal refinished with some kind of black epoxy paint. The lower is still original anodized. It was rare in my career to utilize an M16/M4 that matched, unless it was fresh from a US arsenal. The first time I ever got a brand new weapon was just prior to Operation Gothic Serpent, and it was a new HK MP5 - all us pilots in my unit got them in 1993. Fun weapon to shoot.

I personally like a weapon with as much of the original clean lines as possible. As a pilot you have limited space and you don't want lights and red dots snagging on things.

I have a RRA lower and LMT 10.5 upper that this "assembled" thread reminds me of. But like a dumbass, I took of the birdcage off and put a suppressor brake/mount on that I need to revert because it barks my ear off without the can. Sometimes I just cant leave shit alone until its properly fkd up.

Cool thread.

I have an ar pistol that's similar. It currently has a Trijicon rmr on it that I really like. It has a Centurion rail that I'm getting ready to move to a build with a colt socom barrel. The pistol will end up with a car handguard. I can't stand M4 handguards. At one time it had a C7 upper. I love the simplicity of the A1 sights but a red dot with a magnifier as an option makes more sense. Maybe if I find a deal on a mini acog I'll use the C7 upper for something.

I got rid of mine out of My want to collapse It quickly.
If you are going to leave it as is, I found the kak to be great, maybe even preferred.
I find the thin profile better for any type of use. I wish they made a quick adjust version.

I like how the build basically went full circle. I also love the sf mini on 11.5” barrels... awesome practical balance of sound/size/weight,& capability IMO.

I think they do make a version of the KAK blade now that's easily collapsible.

I'll never bother with it, I don't do a whole lot of adjusting with carbine stocks as it is. I've definitely grown to like the simple first gen KAK.
