I thought I would post this little tidbit concerning Hollywood and our gun rights. I subscribe to the online newsletter from the Brady Center so I can keep track of their shenanigans. I recently went to their website and found some interesting news concerning Hollwood actors and actresses who are supporting and taking part in some of their events. Also, present is the Sheriff of L.A County my old home until recently. He is very anti-gun and not well liked according to some of the deputies that I know back there.

Hollywood stars Will Ferrell, Amy Brenneman, Jeffrey Ross, James Whitmore and Peter Weller all turned out for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence event at the home of Shelley and Frank Litvack on Sunday, November 11th.

The evening honored Joan Hill, Brady Center Board of Trustees and David Hill, Chairman/CEO Fox Sports with the Sarah Brady Visionary Award. John Walsh, Host, America's Most Wanted, and Tim Heyne, President, Union Entertainment Group and President, Ventura County Brady Campaign Chapter were also presented with awards honoring their commitment to a safer America. Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baca was presented the James S. Brady Law Enforcement Award.

Also participating in the program were Chairman of the Boston Red Sox, Tom Werner, Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton and Peter Read, the father of Mary Read, who was tragically lost in the Virginia Tech massacre. Comedian Jeffrey Ross performed a hilarious routine at the end of the evening.

Brady Center President Paul Helmke gave stirring remarks, and Senator Ted Kennedy and Victoria Reggie Kennedy sent a video message of congratulations to their friends, Joan and David Hill. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'ouevres and desserts as they participated in an exciting silent auction. Special thanks to Event Chair Sheila Walker for all of her help with the event and auction.

The Brady Center would like to thank all our supporters, volunteers and auction donors for their time, energy and commitment to keeping America safe from gun violence.

Here are some other past event attendees.

Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Jenny McCarthy, Bernie Mac and Tom Arnold all turned out for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence event at the home of Joan and David Hill on Sunday, November 12th.

Joan, member of the Brady Center Board of Trustees, and David, Chairman and CEO of Fox Sports Television Group and President of DirecTV Entertainment Group, hosted a star-studded evening honoring activists Mary Leigh and Charles Blek, Chairman of Hispanic Communications Network Jeff Kline and Lionsgate CEO and Co-Chairman Jon Feltheimer. Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton was also in attendance to present the James Brady Law Enforcement Award to Los Angeles Police Officer Gonazalo Lara.

The Brady Center was thrilled to announce the establishment of the Matthew Blek Memorial Endowment at the event. Start-up funding for the Endowment came from a generous donation from the Orange County Citizens for the Prevention of Gun Violence, which was founded in 1995 by honorees Charles and Mary Leigh Blek in memory of their son, Matthew. Interest from the Endowment will be used for scholarships and stipends for activists to attend Brady trainings and conferences.

Brady Center President Paul Helmke and California State Senator Jack Scott gave remarks, and Kathleen "Bird" York gave a beautiful performance of the Oscar-winning theme song "In The Deep," from the movie Crash. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'ouevres and desserts as they participated in an exciting silent auction. Special thanks to Event Chair Sheila Walker for all of her help with the event and auction.

The Brady Center was proud to receive such wonderful donations, and would like to thank all our supporters, volunteers and auction donors for their time, energy and commitment to keeping America safe from gun violence.

Paul Helmke is a tool chest. He was mayor of my town for awhile and did a ok job. But he is weak. I dont remember where, but i heard a clip of a radio show where he admitted the 1st AWB didnt actually reduce crime.

Oh and **** LA!

Hmmmm, so "Rambo" Stallone does not think I need firearms...... If it were not so incredibly stupid, I would laugh at the irony.

Iraqgunz, if they send you envelopes with pre-paid mailing for donations, make sure you send them back.

Stuffed with your old junk mail, of course. ;)

I suppose if I had private security guards (with their own guns) guarding my house and following me and my family around 24x7 I would have no need for guns either.

Yes, it's sensible that hollywood actors rally against guns while they and their co-horts make the most violent, exaggerated, guns blazing films anywhere in the world.

F**king backwards assed, self-absorbed morons.

I'm going to show this to my teenagers and maybe it will temper their love for Will Ferrell.

Buckaroo (who is saddened but not surprised by any of this)

Stallone is one of the worst offenders. Let's see; Rambo 1-49, The Specialist, Demolition Man, Cobra, Tango and Cash, and Assassins. I am sure there are more out there. I remember reading something a few years back where he said; I actually remember seeing the interview on TV where he made that first statement. I think he is a royal douchebag and generally avoid all of his movies.

"until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you're gonna have... It really is pathetic... We're livin' in the Dark Ages over there."Sylvester Stallone, March 28, 1998

"I know we use guns in films," but insisted the time has come "to be a little more accountable and realize that this is an escalating problem that’s eventually going to lead to, I think, urban warfare."Sylvester Stallone on Access Hollywood, June 8, 1998

"It [2nd Amendment] has to be stopped, and someone really has to go on the line, a certain dauntless political figure, and say, ‘It’s ending, it’s over, all bets are off. It’s not 200 years ago, we don’t need this anymore, and the rest of the world doesn’t have it. Why should we?"Sylvester Stallone on Access Hollywood, June 8, 1998

There is also a rumor that Sheriff Baca issued him a California CCW a few years back. Funny thing is mine was denied because I could not show "good cause" even though it was work related.

Well then, they can show their support for the Brady campaign by refusing to depict gun violence in their movies, and stop displaying any guns on film that they believe should be banned.

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Anyone else NEVER seeing another one of those actors' movies?

I really cant believe that someone like Sly who made his career off of the most "realistic" violent movies ever made could possibly be against guns.

Did that ass backwards moron forget about rambo? I mean cripes, the most recent iteration of the freakin movie had him blowing people apart with .50 cals.

I guess its ok though since he was saving some peace loving hippies in cambodia or some shit......

I remember that rumor. The place I saw it even had photocopied application. It wouldn't surprise me the least, he was nailed for trying to get into Australia with steroids a few years ago too.

Thank you! Perhaps if they think suburban gun violence is such a problem, perhaps they should stop doing movies glorifying gun play...

Stallone - what a hypocrite. Simple answer is for them all to forego their armed details douches!
