I thought about a .44 mag lever for knocking around in the woods and desert, but then saw these single shots. You can pick one up for about $300. It seems like a nice simple robust piece. Compared to an AR, good for slowing down the whole shooting process...that sounded enjoyable. I have a S&W classic 5" 29 I've always wanted a companion rifle for it. Any of you messed around with something like this?

Yes and no. My only single shot is a 1899 Martini Henry in 303 Brit. It's pretty cool rifle to shoot but not exactly the same as the modern break open

I have an NEF SS-1 in .22lr. Nice little varmint popper around the property with CB longs or subsonics. Need to get the barrel threaded for maximum effect.

I would like one in .44mag and .357 mag with a 16” threaded barrel.

Reminds me of the H&R Handi Rifle. Had an AAC collaboration one in 300 BLK threaded. Very niche but very quiet.

I have a TC Encore I've been wanting to pick up a 16" 44 mag barrel. Right now I have 20" .45-70 barrel on it and it has a shorter OAL than my 10/22, a 16" 44mag would be a sweet LW thumper.

Looks fun. i just picked up a lever action rifle in 44 Mag / 44 Special, and it's a blast to shoot.

I've had a couple of Japanese made Browning B92 lever guns in 44 Mag, and a couple of older (pre-safety) lever-actions from Marlin (way before their quality cratered during the Remington era) in 44 and 357 Mag---all excellent guns! But the rifle I prefer is an older Ruger #3 single-shot that were very limited production in 44 Mag! This goes with my original Ruger Old-Model Flattop 44 Mag revolver that rides in it's old-timey Ruger Flap holster...

I have always wanted a Ruger No. 1 in 44 mag. They are about $1400. That CVA is a nice alternative
