Concept has been around a while, seems to be improving in designs and $. Here's a zip up that's (supposedly...) IIA or IIIA rated.

FB advert is an instant red flag for me.

10-12 layers of Kevlar will give you IIA, IIRC? Make your own or work with a tailor? I picture more of a pull over quarter zip, maybe with the kevlar in the sub vest that fits kind of snug.

Let’s all call North Face and see if they’ll do a special run for our M4C Militia....

ETA: actually, I’d be really interested in a rugby shirt. Those often are kind of padded and have thicker fabrics anyways, that might be a killer app for this. That hoodie that they have is pretty interesting.

Rather just proper setup and nice jacket ?

NOW if they had it so the WHOLE thing was bullet proof and comfy flex such as arms and everything that would be cool otherwise huge pass for me on this ;)

I think there will be a big step forward one day soon in bullet proof items. I've seen some video and looked at some articles about liquid armor. It's crazy cool. I wonder one day if bullets will be a thing of the past.

That's been the constant battle throughout the history of combat: Develop weapon, develop armor, develop weapon that defeats that armor, develop armor that protects from that new weapon, develop weapon that defeats that new armor...and on it goes.

I would love to see better and more comfortable armor (that only works for good guys :p). Not quite there yet though. These jackets, hoodies, etc. with their panels might appeal to some. I would rather use the discreet type of undervest ala Premier or SafeGuard if I was in a position to need armor on a daily basis. Given my current risk level, I "depend on the kindness of strangers". Situational awareness is the best primary defensive tool, supplemented as necessary.

BTW, this guy is a Dumba$$. I didn't watch the vid, but apparently he shoots himself as a sales tool. Armor reduces risk, but serious injury, including ruptured organs, is still possible.

I've often considered... IF we could succesfully replicate spider's silk... which is SIXTEEN times stronger than the strongest steel..... we could do this very effectively.

I've heard the talk of silk weight penetration protection before. The problem is that without the mass to spread out the point loading you would still end up with a gunshot wound. The bullet would just be gift wrapped with your silk shirt.
