I need to buy another red dot and I'm torn between the two. I've been using the Micros, have never used a Comp. Is the extra coin and weight worth it or am going to say "Shit I wish I got another T-2". I'm not overly concerned about battery type or life. I hear the Comps are tougher but I have yet to kill a Micro. This is going on a general purpose, get it done light weight 14.5"/16" gun but the weight between the wouldn't mean squat. NV might, could be a factor, maybe. :help:

M5 for sure. 7075 vs 6061 and has clear glass up front so your red dot will still work if the front lens is damaged.

I'd like to try the M5 for giggles but honestly I've been more than happy with the T2's. The extra cost for the M5 makes me vote for the Micro. I also have piles of 2032 batteries at this point so the advantage of the more common AAA isn't much of an appeal.

I have been happy with my T-series (I only have a T-1). That said, I would be willing to try a Comp M5, but for me the T-series has been proven based on my 8 years of ownership.

I’ve had absolutely no desire to upgrade to an M5. The T2 works very well, and the durability shouldn’t be doubted.

I'd love to update my red dots to all M5. Not that the M4s and PROs are suddenly junk but the M5 is an improvement and I'd like the commonality. Not a priority by any means, but I may work on a buy one/sell one pace.

I have both and I like them equally. I bought an M5 because at the time I couldn’t find another T2 in stock without the mount. The different batteries are not an issue for me.

T2 , kind of splitting hairs, but ** for me ** , smaller, lower profile and less viewing obstruction.

I recently purchased a T2 over an M5 just because I got a better deal on that one. Either will do what I needed it to.

Is the following a factor for the M5, also, and if so, does it matter?

Heads-up, the newer Aimpoint T2 micro dots (likely H2 as well) have a new LED where brightness setting 9 is the older version's 8. This change happened around SN# 46000 or so. No reason given by Aimpoint, but you now need to put it on a higher setting to be the equivalent output of an older model, and you lose battery life time.

Great, this doesn't help me one bit, you guys are ****ing worthless. :jester:
Seriously though it is kind of what I expected. Thanks your input.

^^^This is probably what it is going to boil down to.

My vote is the T2. There are two videos on YT with the battery compartments on the M5 failing on a drop from chest height.

PewPew Tactical had a video of that, likely what you're referring to.

I run 2moa T-1's now, and the T-2 seems a natural progression, but I've never had a BAD Aimpoint, and the weight of an M5 is negligible. Whichever one was the better deal, I'd probably go with.

I bought the T2 over the M5. But I voted M5 because it’s sexy...plus when I was buying I got a better deal on the T2.

Compared to other models- M3, M2, H1- the T2 is noticeably more crisp for me. I’m not sure if anything actually changed, but I remember my first impression was that the dot actually looked round. So I was sold. I’ve read others with astigmatisms say the same thing.

If you have good eyes, or don’t care, then this won’t matter for you. But it was a selling point for me.

5/5 split right now, but I chose the T2 and love it.

I have had both. I thought the M5 had a slightly better dot to my eyes, the increase in cost over the T2 wasn't worth it. Since I'm not HALO jumping into water then operating in an austere environment with no 2032s, the extra durability of the M5 (and cost) is lost on my uses. I voted T2.

I have the T's and the M4's, not M5's but would love one. Impossible to go wrong with either, but you have a T series, buy an M5 and the next time you will know which one you want. T1/2 vs M5. Damn, they are pricy, but you can't go wrong. Good for you for stepping up with all the chino RDS available. RESPECT.

The “almost as good as” fairy makes people do some strange things sometimes, especially when guys watch videos with people paid and sponsored by certain manufacturers. The guys paid to say “almost as good as” maybe right, he may not. It’s a hard call to make because a mans got to eat, which is why you need to look big picture and see how comments are backed up. A guy with a proven track record can back his claims up pretty easy.

Regarding the above, I have a M5 and a T2. I also have a T1, and I can say the step up from the T1 to T2 is certainly noticeable, especially with astigmatism, using them back to back, or when using a magnifier. The Comp M4S are a favorite of mine, the M4S is large, but something special imho.

I will take my T2 and M5 out later tonight if I remember and see if I see much difference between them. I voted M5, but honestly I would use either and be more than happy.

I find the sight picture with the CompM5 to be slightly cleaner, due to the battery compartment being higher, rather than directly to the right. Not a big deal, but something I instantly noticed on my rifle, if only because I run a flip-to-side magnifier; when using it on something without a magnifier, I don't really find much difference (which likely has zero impact on performance and SA, at least with my level of skill).

Get the T2 because you can piggyback it in the future.

Hello there. I also vote for T2. Quite good device. By the way I want to ask what do you think about night vision devices from AGM Global Vision brand(https://www.agmglobalvision.com/night-vision). As I know this company is quite popular and has a lot of positive reviews. Did you try their optics?
