What are the Flash Hiders available for 6.8? Or does it matter?

Yes, they are available. Smith makes two sizes of the Vortex for two different 6.8 barrel diameters. Noveske's KX3 is also available for 6.8 barrels. There are likely others available as well.

Troy makes their Medieval brake for 6.8 aswell.

Thanks, guys. I was curious if there was something else other than the A2 flash hiders.

I'm pretty sure SureFire makes hiders and brakes - but they'd be hard to find.

I'd just stick with the Birdcage, or get the SEI Vortex.

Anybody have a lead on where I can get a birdcage FH in 5/8x24tpi ?

I don't want to spend big $ on a smith when I have a can that may spend most of it's time attached.

Anybody?

Cardinal Armory had them. I have one but I'm going to switch it out for a Vortex.
Check AR-10 parts dealers like Armalite for them.
If you still can't find one, I'll send you mine for free (be home in 3 weeks, PM me)- that was only on my 6.8 for about 25 shots.

I wound up finding a unused Smith Vortex but I thanks you for your generous offer.

edit: Wishing you a safe return!

Smith Vortex are 9/16-24 thread most 6.8 barrels are 5/8-24 like 308 barrels.
Model 1 sales and some Stag barrels are 1/2-36? the same as a 9mm flash hider.

The one I got is 5/8x24 :)

Ok, so you found a 308 model. I don't know why they make a 6.8/308 vortex in 1/2-28 and 9/16-24 when no one makes 6.8 barrels with those threads:confused:

I thought I read that STAG has funky thread size for their 6.8

I just found that LMTs barrels are 1/2-28
Not sure being able to install a 5.56 brake on a 6.8 is a good thing.

I was in the same boat with my 6.8 MRP. All I could find was the A2 flashider. So I simply took a YHM 5C1 and reamed it out. Problem solved.

Does anyone make an adapter to go from 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 threads? I want to temporarily run a small 30 cal suppressor on a Spikes 22LR upper until I get a 5.56 can. I'm sure it won't be very efficient but should be better than nothing.

Sorry for the hijack.

Primary Weapons makes the FSC30 which fit's the 5/8x24 and they make an adapter so that you can use it on a 1/2x28 threaded barrel as well.

they use a 9mm thread of 1/2 x 36. Kind of a pain to find them. I've seen vortex in this thread. I am hoping to get a short barrel for mine and have a standard thread for 6.8 so I have more options for a hider.

Stag uses 1/2 x 36 which is actually a 9mm thread, mainly to prevent someone from using a 5.56 on it. kind of a pain though.
