Has anyone heard if Glock is planning to do another run of these?

I heard rumors that they were but you might get lucky and find one still on shelves. I’ve seen them recently at Academies.

What makes these appealing to you?

I'm a very retrograde kind of guy.

Same here, I’d buy one in a heartbeat if they were available here in Switzerland (I think they’re not imported).

Here’s a real P80 from the Norwegian army, courtesy of Wikipedia

I wanted one until they pulled a Nintendo Mini on me. Besides my Gen 5 isn’t broken

Other than the checkering, is it externally any different than G2? I can't recall G1, but I hate my G2. I've got a polymer 80 frame to swap onto my G2, just haven't yet.

Just askin.

I wanted one until a friend of mine brought one over and it popcorn popped empty brass all over everyone that shot it.

Way more Gen 2 frames in the country than Gen 1. It’s the exact same frame. No finger grooves, two pin, no muzzle attachments

And here is a real Gen 1 that I picked up years ago. Completely original. Lived its entire life on a Nevada cattle ranch. I am the second owner. I doubt it had ever been field stripped when I received it.

And my Gen 2.

A G2 with a RDO compatible slide is my daily carry.

2 pin 9mm didn't start until the Gen 3 finger groove/rail had been out awhile. Not sure if it looked different externally, but fairly sure early models lacked captive recoil slings.

Are we confused on what two pin means?

I fear what you are calling “Two pin” is actually the newer 3 pin with the locking block. Two pin means exactly two pins for the whole gun as in the trigger pin and the trigger mech pin

I was thinking only of 2 pins passing through the locking block. Lol

No. They are done.
