https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2021/05/31/jbs-cybersecurity-attack-top-meat-supplier/5285566001/

First Davos did event 201 and then the pandemic happened. https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/about

Then they did the "cyber pandemic" simulation. https://cn.weforum.org/our-impact/averting-a-cyber-pandemic-businesses-are-building-a-global-response-to-cybersecurity-risks (they removed the page from their site, but the link is still there)

And everyone on the internet took that and said there's going to be a rash of cyberattacks affecting our infrastructure. And I thought yea right, there's no way they would be that obvious.

And yet here we are, and I just don't even have the words anymore.

Anyways, I really came here to ask if Reynold's Wrap is an effective choice to prevent the aliens from reading my mind.

Nah if it were a simulation we would have better writers.

On the weekend TV shows, there was a lady talking about how we need to get rid of crypto currency because it enables the untraceable movement of money for these ransom ware payments.

About as good as common sense gun laws would stop all crime :)

She most likely loves FB and google to :)

If you wear that tinfoil, this is a trifecta:
-terrorize the population in general
-manufacture a reason to ban Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies
-manufacture a reason to clamp down on the internet and stifle any dissent or unapproved news

This applies in a couple different ways:

The Communist-in-Chief and his band of merry commies state their Green New Deal goals of eliminating beef consumption and moving from ICE vehicles to electric. Shortly thereafter the gas supply is interrupted followed by the beef supply being interrupted. Test runs? Hmmmm, tin foil hat indeed.......

So several animal rights groups have targeted this company for like the last decade. Constant small time irritations but this seems to be their first very successful cyber attack. Things were still down today, everything expected to be normal tomorrow.

I wouldn't want to imagine what chaos the loss of electric would bring to this country.... tinfoil hat and perhaps full body suit on... but I could see these days that it is something "them" would want in order to gain more control over the populous.

This is being attributed to Russian crime syndicates who are out to extort $$, not animal rights activists. Fortunately, the typical animal rights activist isn't sharp enough to execute such an attack.

I deal with this crap every day and there is nothing to tin foil over......They were just unprepared and a bit unlucky.

But these threats from hackers using ransomware have been around for years. They should have been aware of the threats and acted to prevent such a take over. Same thing about our electrical grid. I worked in the power industry for 10 years about 20 years ago. They knew of threats to the grid back then and how vulnerable it is. They have done pretty much zilch that matters to protect the grid against the modern threats as far as I am aware of. Back then, a squirrel getting zapped on a power line brought down a majority of the north east coast grid simply because of the lack of repair to equipment that should have prevented the whole blackout.

Easy to say, hard and expensive to do......The simple fact is that these companies don't have the budget or talent pool to adequately defend themselves from this sort of threat.

Yep, it was ransomware virus attack. I'd honestly suspect China over Russia but China is the largest export customer, but it still could be China pulling shit.

At a very high level most of the stuff commonly seen from Russia is Professional Crime syndicates extorting money. The Russian IP gathering is so good you typically won't see them.

Most Chinese stuff is Nation State Intel and IP gathering activity. Not a ton of extortion coming out of China at this point in time.

I realize I’m asking for speculation, but do you think the reason the Chinese have mostly stayed out of the extortion side of cyber is because they’re so deeply invested in US businesses? That could make it hard to keep from hitting a company with deep ties to China and impact the bottom line.

If you want to spy / infiltrate you don't extort, that would be stupid. So Intel focused exercises like solarwinds never extort.

If you want to get millions, then you extort.

Maybe the associated governments are okay with the disruption it causes to the US, but quite frankly colonial pipeline didn't have much in their operational systems that Russian or Chinese Intel would care about. Not that they couldn't get easier other ways.

It's a blurry line as some of the extortion gangs also apparently contract out for their home governments.

The solarwinds hack was so widespread, deep, and in place so long that you have to assume any information on those systems or accessible by those systems has been compromised. It is huge.

Beijing Biden gave Vlad a list of what's offlimits to cyberattacks. What an idiot.

Yeah, mentioned this to my wife earlier. You can't make this crap up anymore.

Everything is off limits. Cyber attacks should be classified as terrorism and we should hunt these rat bastards down just like jihadi Joe.

Do some research on Cyber Polygon:

https://cyberpolygon.com/

I thoroughly recommend that everyone stock up before July 9th. More supply chain “inconveniences” will be sure to follow.

Cyber attacks are already being considered the next “pandemic” and remember, pandemics are “public health emergencies.”
