Any experiences with these? I'm considering picking one up, Mark Larue is saying that the turn-around on them is 2-4 weeks. Since I have no idea when the LMT upper I have on order is going to show. Thinking about the 18 inch model with the 13.2 or 12 inch rail to put on my LMT defender lower. Any thoughts on this set up?

The LaRue Tactical Stealth billet upper is definitely a quality item that's GTG. Just be aware (unless they changed the design, which I'm not aware of) that it doesn't have the M4 feed ramps. Not necessarily a bad thing, but definitely something to be aware of and consider in your build.

The two upper receivers that I considered, when I first started my own build, were in fact the LaRue Stealth and VLTOR MUR products. I opted for the M4 ramps, so I went with the MUR. But it's really personal preference.

If you decide to purchase the Stealth billet upper receiver, you will definitely be buying one of the higher-end uppers out there... and will be well served, as with any LaRue item.

the main thing that has me thinking about it is the turn-around time. I'd love to get an LMT or a BCM mid-length and throw a 12 inch rail on, but who knows when one of those will be available? I've seen the VLTORs available, but you still have to get a barrel and you can't find those. How does that setup work anyway? I saw 2 midlength models listed on Bravo Company, they both look the same, but it says one has a 10 inch rail.

I think he was talking about the complete upper, ready to mount on a receiver. Which I have read is awesome. I'm debating myself between just buying one or building an 18" in 6.8SPC from similar parts just for the experience.

But I did read either on here or on arfcom that the upper receiver itself doesn't have the M4 feedramps if you order them directly from LaRue but does have them if you order them from someone else, apparently due to LaRue's preferences.

I have a 16" Stealth. Accurate, reliable, and doing extremely well.

I can't speak for the Stealth complete upper...but, the billet upper I have does have the M4 ramps. They are definitely GTG!!

If you look at Skintop's pictures, you can see that the complete upper seems to not have the M4 ramps.

I have a 18" Stealth with 13.2 rail on order. Hoping to see it in 2 weeks or so. All the reports on these uppers seem very good and folks are getting sub-MOA out of them with good ammo. The non mil-spec BCG has me REALLY worried though. :D

The BCG is mil spec...the bolt is just not HP MP tested....In all reality, a stainless barreled, set screw fastend gas block, billeted upper should NOT be your SHTF CYA rifle anyways...thats what a Colt, BCM or LMT is for....the stealth is a precession setup, and HP MP should not matter.

Chill. I was making a joke relating back to other threads on Larue BCGs.

I have both a VLTOR MUR upper and an LT Stealth upper. Both fine products, but the machining and finish on the VLTOR is superior to the LT. Also, the VLTOR is a tad more economical.

If I had it to do over again, I would have followed Grant's advice and got another VLTOR.

Ya mind providing an explanation of this rationale?

Someone explain to me how this setup works, I see them on Bravo Company's site. So I get the upper, then I just have to get a barrel, gas block and tube? That's great, where do you find a barrel these days?

That's kind of a broad question. What kind of barrel are you looking for? Preferred brand? Length? Profile? Length of gas system? Fluted / non? Finished? etc etc

I've never had a problem locating a barrel for my builds, even when purchasing one (a few days ago) during all of this panic buying. Just all depends on what you're after, and doing some digging around.

I'd prefer the 10" vltor, and I guess a mid length milspec barrel

Don't forget a rail system or other fore end. I'm planning to do exactly that, actually, collecting parts as finances permit, to build a complete 6.8SPC upper exactly how I want it. The hardest part will probably be drilling/machining the barrel for the gas block pins or set screw divots, depending on the gas block. That part I plan on having done by someone else, but otherwise I just plan to follow the instructions found on ar15.com and the technical manual.

I'm talking about the VLTOR upper with the built in rail
