Edit: They have been mapping the sea floor with sonar and finding interesting items.
Very interesting stuff, sub sank by the Ward within hours of Pearl Harbor air strike didn’t get confirmed as a danger to raise the fleet to full alert. Sub was found later with a 4” hole in it where the Ward reported the hit.
27 of 29 modified Sherman tanks found 2-3 miles off Omaha beach. They were supposed to float, rough seas weren’t accounted for in the design.
