I would appreciate any feedback those 92X owners can offer. I have extensive experience with the M9/92 series, what I want to know is any quality control issues with these Tennessee made 92X pistols. I handled one today and it seemed good to go, clean extractor pin staking, tightly fit front sight with no staking required, smooth action, even finish. I would like to know if all the negative reports online of the Tennessee pistols are valid.

I had some pretty bad slide finish issues with my 92compact. But my Langdon full size and 92A3 were both perfect. I put this video together and it shows the hassle I went through trying to get Beretta to fix their product. They did but it took more work than it should have. Usually I wouldn’t bother but I want folks to know and hopefully Beretta will get it together.

Thanks for the info! The bruniton finish is baked on and IMO should have been updated a long time ago.

I just picked up a 92X Performance after seeing and reading many reviews. Aesthetics and construction is absolute fantastic. The trigger pull is nice and smooth as well as light. I am looking forward to some range time with it.

Great looking two tone beastie. I just picked up a LTT Elite black with NP3 accents....Think I like yours a bit better.

It is all that.

I 'was" going to get a Wilson or Nighthawk 1911 or STI 2011in 9mm, but the 92x Performance does everything just as nice IMHO. I love how you can use it DA/SA like a normal 92FS or carry it locked and cocked like a 1911/2011.

I like this aspect as well.

I’ve owned two 92s years back. I was underwhelmed.
Always felt they were stupid large for a 9mm pistol.

Went back to P35/BHP for a HiCap 9.
This was 25 years ago. There are better HiCap 9s now.

I will admit that standard 92s leave something to be desired, but they can always be upgraded. The triggers are lacking and a LTT trigger job can do wonders for a standard 92. Of course, custom 92s like the Wilson Combat Brigadier Tactical and Elite LTT are fantastic right out of box. Even the M9A3 is a sweet shooting model. Of course, the 92X, especially the Performance model, is one of the best out-of-the-box 92s they have made. That is my opinion.

Agreed.

gaijin, this 92x performance is as big and heavy as a full sized 1911. That may be your point. My counterpoint, is that it shoots just as good as a full sized 1911. It's more versatile as you can use it double action, or carry locked and cocked as this one has a frame mounted safety like a 1911.

For $1200 +/- you get with the 92x performance what you would have with a $2000+ 1911. I "was" going to get a top tier 1911 in 9mm before the 92x performance came out. I just think you can do MORE with the 92x*.

* Based on comparing full size 1911 9mms. The 92x is a "race gun". The size and weight make it shoot smoother. I will have no problem putting a light on this and making a home defense weapon also.

Thank you DetSog, was unaware of this.

I've got an X full size, RDO. I didn't care for the factory sights, so instead installed Wilson's Battle sights, fore and aft.
The Trijicon RDO plate took forever to be shipped, so I purchased a Burris plate for a FF3 I had.
Reliability, accuracy and cycling have been stellar.
I've got about 900 rounds thru it, and it's settling in fine. Also installed a 12# hammer spring.
Sighted for 20 yards with the dot, this cloverleaf was shot at 15.
There's absolutely NO way to use the irons with the Beretta setup. Did the measurements, and Beretta's suppressor sight won't clear the mount either.
It's the only minus to the gun.

I just purchased the same pistol. And I couldn't be more pleased. I like a full sized handgun, and this one is a beauty. It is going to see A LOT of ammo. I installed some custom grips, and got some 20 round magazines for it as well.

Love all metal guns. Like berettas but the placement of the safety way up on the slide makes it a terrible choice for a class or carry, IMHO. The 92x with its improved safety placement is a massive improvement even a 1911 guy might (probably not) like.

The manual safety is not needed. It's a double-action gun.

Regarding the alloy-framed 92X:

Most people either buy the G model that is decock-only, or convert an FS model to decock only using Beretta's $55 kit.

Then you never have to worry about the manual safety again.

Good point, i learned to hate it during a class, they required me to decock and have it on safety between shots. Tgis was an old 96 vertec (i think) 40cal.
