Gathering parts for an 11.5 / 12.5 build [Archive]

So I got the itch to build another rifle. I'm going to get a stamp for it so I have time to hunt for specific parts. It's going to be an 11.5 or 12.5 inch barrel. More specifically either a Hodge 12.5 or Centurion 11.5 HRT. The HRT is what I'm really leaning towards. My goal is for it to be 90% suppressed. However, I want the gun to be reliable with military 5.56 ammo unsupressed. Any input as to why I might want the 12.5 Hodge over Centurion? I have a few rifles in the 16"/13.7" range so that's my main reason I'm leaning towards the 11.5.
So far I have a SOLGW lower, A5 buffer setup with A5H2, Hodge BCG.
Ideally I want either a Hodge S lock (unicorn) or KAC URX 4 rail.

Hodge is nice, Centurion is nice also. Either one would be a good option.

Gain a little extra velocity out of a 12.5 and I've seen more hodge 12.5 barrels lately than any centurion barrels.

Any thoughts on appropriate gas port sizing? To me it looks like the Centurion at .069 is a good compromise. I believe some of the Hodge barrels are .069 as well. Although most Hodge barrels I have seen are at .0625 and I think that will be a little too suppressor oriented for my application.

Have you looked into a BRT 12.5" HF CL barrel?

They're setup to run mixed suppressed with standard components and pair perfectly with "mini" size suppressors.
