View Full Version : Help me finish my project--what looks better?

I built a couple different lowers and just got my Tango 6T mounted on my 16" CLE upper.

Now, which combo looks best?

On looks alone I favor the fixed stock.

Probably the fixed stock since it has a two stage trigger, but I could always move that. Otherwise I assume the rest of the lower parts and color aren't impacting accuracy.

Going to take it to the range Friday

Sorry, what's the right forum? I built all three lowers. This seemed like the place?

I believe the point made is; your post sounds like "which of these shoes looks best on Barbie".
While aesthetics ARE a thing, this Forum (M4C) strives to focus on performance related issues or problems over aesthetics.
Perhaps a detail of the lowers you built, and how it/they functions, accuracy of your build- would have been better received.

Martin, the Custom Build Forum is for posting pics and parts lists with explanations for why you chose them. AR Discussion Forum would probably have been better for questions. But here we are, so don’t sweat it. Its all good.

In response to your question, I have a closet fetish for fixed A1 stocks. As for colors, rattlerattlerattle…psssshhhhht….pssshhhht.

I think the two toned one makes your ass look fat.

Why would "looks" even be relevant?

There are photo-threads all over this site. What's the poor new-guy to think?

MistWolf

The New Guy is supposed to think they should read the rules of the subforum before starting a thread.

Just like the rest of us discovered when our pee-pees got slapped for making the same mistake.

Martin248

I actually did read the rules and still thought it was the right place. The reply in this thread by @1168 about what that subforum is for is much clearer than those rules and probably should be added to the subforum sticky.

The question is about the two tone in a way. That particular model of Tango 6t only exists in FDE so then I was mixing the FDE parts thinking, hey, if URGI is like that, maybe it's a thing. But it looks goofy to me.

It's in the fixed stock right now because that one has a Geissele two stage trigger and the 6t is the highest power optic I have for an AR. But I'm not sure about mixing the aesthetics of an old school stock with a current fad LPVO. It's also a Compass Lake upper so the idea was to make a combination focused on accuracy, but looks still matter.

So maybe I should move it to the collapsible stock, potentially upgrade that trigger to 2 stage (currently an ALG ACT trigger there).

And to those who think looks don't matter, this isn't your thread. Go to another

Another other than an A1 stock adds 30lbs to your pics. I vote A1 stock.

What others have said. It's better to not come asking "which looks better," but rather to consider function over form. When function and form line up it's a great thing, but it's not always. The easiest solution would be to pick the combo that shoots the best FOR YOU, and then hose the entire thing (scope and all) with a coat of Aervoe sand, followed up by splotches of field drab, MC green, light green, and coyote.

And, not to hijack your thread, but here's an example (scope/mount has since been painted.)

How durable is that stuff? Do you have to re-do it often?

Martin248

As for form vs function, I'm not gonna be wearing body armor, so the collapsible one will always be fully extended, at which point I doubt there's a functional difference.

So it comes down to looks!

How durable is that stuff? Do you have to re-do it often? It depends how often and how you use it. If you're taking a lot of classes, hunting with it, tossing it in the floorboard a lot, it's going to wear faster. For a beater, if you want to hide all the wear spots that will appear in high use areas, maybe once ever 2 years.

When applied correctly, Aervoe is extremely durable. With a camo pattern, wear isn't really noticed.

Some home sprayed camo outdoors....

Cool. Not sure I want to make my CLE upper the one I try painting on first, but I have an Aero AR10 that might be the one to start with.

Martin looks are subjective. That means they vary from person to person. Since you’re a fully adult male human and it’s your gun- your opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to looks.

Worth reading twice. I certainly don't care what other people think about my pile of parts and play toys.

That's nice. Why do you think I should be you? I do value other people's opinions.

And I'm curious why you have spent so much time painting rifles and uploading photos if you don't care what anyone else thinks?
