I would like to know how they proved the provenance of the gun. I guess the buyer never heard the adage, "Buy the gun and not the story". :cool:

Generally speaking, about all you could actually prove is that Pat Garrett actually owned the gun, most likely from Colt shipping docs. Then it would be a matter of Pat actually and publicly saying or documenting in his time that "Yes, this is the gun".
