I just got notice last week that both of my VP9L holsters are shipping this week. I thought WTF, I did not. I already have a holster bucket with 8 million holsters. I've done it with lights and mounts and red dots. Don't get me started on rings and bases.

Been there, done that?

Tools.
The snap on guy saw me coming and then I would work out of state and have to buy what I left at home because I didn't know..
I've got two roll aways, carts, and work benches full of tools.

I'm retired and my kid doesn't "do" tools.

I usually can’t find stuff and order duplicates. Usually happens with specialty tools.

Happened with gas tubes the other day. I couldn’t find one for anything. New one didn’t come with roll pin. Opened up the box I knew the roll pin was in and there it was under the cardboard flap…a carbine gas tube.

You sound like me. I had tools at my shop, and did enough sidework I bought tools for the garage. After 10 years I had a career change and a huge toolbox and two carts overflowing with tools. I’ve bought tools, filters, other random parts because I forgot I had something (less common for tools because of my organization but still looking for SAE tools all the time now that I have a boat that’s all SAE.

I’ve bought ammo because I had forgotten where I stashed some but then found it….. not that that is like holsters…….

I now carry a veto pro pac backpack stocked with tools and other normally used things to help fix rental issues. I was tired of buying something I already had at home when it was quicker to swing by Lowe's and go fix it instead of driving all the way home to get it or make a second trip back to the house. I finally bought the remainder of the duplicates I needed and outfitted my bag. Between it and what I carry in my truck tool box I can do most plumbing, electrical, etc maintenance calls.

I have many duplicate shell holders, trimming guides etc..at least they're cheap, I guess

And that's the garage, I've got a shop out back with all of my wood working stuff and another load of SAE tools.

I avoid buying gas tubes unless forced to and refuse to keep any in 'stock' since I learned my lesson about them.

Those damn things are AR 'seeds' and WILL grow into a new rifle fast...

Ironically, that’s how it happened. A buddy had a Colt take-off he wanted to sell me for $50. I said, hey, I for a gas tube for that! Now here we are with one more AR on the rack.

I should get a extra gas tube for my piston guns ;)

One time...and ONLY one time, I bought a Polytech AK at a gunshow because I couldn't remember if I had that exact model or not. Part of the problem was I had about 25 AK rifles at the time, the other problem is Norinco made some near identical platforms and I thought I had a Norinco but needed the Polytech and I ended up with a second identical polytech.

Slings, holsters and gear....psssssh...I've bought a sling thinking I i needed one only to discover I already had two still brand new in the box. You can't remember all this stuff. The important thing is I will eventually buy three more rifles and now I'll already have slings.

Stock sets. I tell myself it's additional furniture for a gun I already own, so for a given HK-91 I might have four sets of different furniture for it depending on need (as if I really need that parastock because I might jump out of a plane with my HK-91), but what ends up happening is I look at the stock set long enough and I realize I need a rifle for it so I go tracking down something like a thumbhole version of the rifle that I can deban.

Long time ago when Classic Arms had those Drag stock Polytech sporters for $299 and they never moved, I eventually had 6 of them that I restored to correct configuration. Wish I kept a few but they went for BIG MONEY during the great Obama Gun Sale.

Multiple spares is the only way to meet need on demand. 1 of something and I have about zero chance finding it when needed. Lol

Yep, I do that CONSTANTLY and it drives me flipping nuts. I even have a central storage place for the stuff I use and I still end up buying stuff I didn't need. I've also done that with holsters. Its mostly smaller stuff, not bigger ticket items like Red Dots. I too have done that with HK91 stock sets as well. Then it becomes a storage issue and trying to figure out where did I store that part?

Hell, I find lowers that I have a hard time remembering, let alone LPKs...

Scope mounts... oh, the horrors....

The amazing thing is I had to install a new sink faucet the other week and I went in the garage and instantly found the nonstaining plumbers putty and that fancy little goofy wrench for reaching up to the underneath of the faucet to undo it. The uninstall and install was not very clean, anytime you need to use your switchblade on some hosing, you know you’re close to the edge of losing it.

Yeah, nope. Never. Not once.

I INTENTIONALLY buy extras, cause I'll need em later. Yeah, that's it. I may have filters and belts in the shop for things that haven't run in years, but you never know when that old truck will spring back to life and demand some maintenance. ;)

Once bought a Rem 700 VSSF in .22-250 for a "Ranch Coyote Gun" and after mounting scope discovered I had one in the office gunsafe.

As far as holsters/grips/stocks/"parts"; Come on Man.

I guess we all blow it, it’s just to what extent do we blow it. Two holsters in the same week, we usually spread out our stupid moves.

Two rifles Gaijin, that is a classic move.

Not really a forgot I had thing, but more of a story. I got caught in a loop with Midway during the Obama error (I know era) and 30rd ban talk. Midway had Pmag’s listed twice. I put the notify me when in stock on both. Somehow when I got the notification and ordered one or two whatever the max was the notify didn’t clear out and then the second notify would come in and I could do it again. I ended up ordering about 30-40 mags doing this over about 2-3months time. I had a hot line to mags for some reason. It was like they were back ordered and all I had to do was approve the order and they were coming.

End plates seem to be what I am heavy on at the moment. Guess some RE’s I ordered came with them and I bought extras because I didn’t think I had any.

Tools….. I am like the others. Can’t find it, buy another only to find the original.
