Until I can get some funds for a new handguard/rail system, I came across this cheap alternative from Ergo. The U.M.P. (http://www.ergogrips.net/item-detail.cfm?ID=4352&storeid=1&image=ergoaump.gif&CFID=32723752&CFTOKEN=27721283) seems like it would work. I'd like to mount a light on the side and a stub vertical grip on the bottom. Has anyone used these before? Any suggestions would be great. I currently have the standard carbine handguards that slightly taper toward the front sight.

I just came across some similar adapters from GG&G (http://www.gggaz.com/index.php?cat=44&parents=38).

I've used the one numbered 4354 for a temporary light rail and it work good. One thing I like about the ergo rail is that since one of the bolt holes is slotted, I was able to mount the rail so it extended past the front of the handguard. This way I was able to mount the flashlight at 6 o'clock yet still have room for my hands on the handguard.

I have one of these on my RRA middie and it is very well made. I would say that it is a good temporary solution.
