Looking to Cerakote a build I have in process. The upper and RE both will have a dry film lube. Not going to coat the inside of either one, but wonder if the curing process used for Cerakote will affect the dry film lube on either?

It shouldn't if the proper SFL was used.

Yes, it will eventually wear off, but 'pretty quickly', I don't know, the correct stuff is pretty durable.

The specific parts to which I am referring are a BCM upper and a FCD RE. My assumption is they use the correct stuff. Thanks gents.

The better SFL are good for 45 minutes of continuous motion.

So, if your AR operates at a cyclic rate of 800 rounds per minute, it will wear off in 36,000 rounds, minus the number of dry cycles you pull through.

Thanks for answering that. I was going to ask the question in my last response, but as I started thinking about it, I realized that there are probably too many mitigating factors for an accurate number. How much dirt and debris are in the receiver, along with how much and what kind of lube, being the big one. And then there're the questions of bearing surface, BCG alignment, etc.
