I am going to say it is not for a handgun. Look at how it has to lock up. Unless a heel catch would hold it.

Some kind of carbine or pimp gun mag.
It looks like a 25 round magazine to a Taurus 92 9mm.

Ive only seen one in person, but Id say the same.
I am pretty sure that it is not for the Taurus as they have magazine cuts similar to the 92F just slightly lower if I recall correctly.
Is the mag marked at all? It looks like a USA or National Mag. I want to say that it is for the MAC 11 because of the cutout in the rear and that spline.
Possibly a gay ass TEC9? Does it hold 30 or 32 rds?
I'd say it doesn't look a lot like this one. And I don't know what this one is either.

Looking at the baseplate, It sure looks like an old Pachmayr Browning High Power mag.

negative on the m11/9.
Can you identify any markings? How many rounds will they hold?
negative on the m11/9.
My first guess was a s&w 59 9mm

but the cut out for the release threw me off, with the lack of release cutout on it makes me think europeon or older style with the release button at the bottom of the grip.

I doubt it's meant for a handgun...based on the filler plates on the front and rear of the mag body. It looks more like a pistol caliber (9mm?) carbine mag.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a Marlin Camp Carbine 9mm or something similar.
I saw a handfull of Aug 9mm mags this weekend, and they had a similar tab on the back. The Aug 9mm has a paddle release like an AK or a FAL, and these look like they would fit in a firearm with a similar mechanism.
9mm Aug magazines

I thought the same as well, but the mags that I saw for the Marlin and Ruger didn't seem to be right.

The Marlin Camp Carbines were designed to use standard S&W 5906 (9mm) or 1911 (.45 ACP) magazines. They don't need the extra spacers on the mags.
Tis, indeed, a mystery...;)
I can't see the pics, but based on the commentary I might throw my guess into the hat.
There is a funky OLD 9mm steyr pistol that's gas operated. An old timer out where I shoot has one and the mags look like subgun mags. I forget the model of the pistol. The guy I shoot with knows what it's called though.
That's my blind guess!
mark,
Are you referring to the the Steyr GB 9MM? I believe it only had an 18 shot magazine.

Could be! I can't remember the name. But I think that's it. I can't see his pics though... that's why I was guessing.

High Point Carbine?
the Mag in question looks alot like the 25 round mags i have for my Blackwater P-226.
DBCooper
Those don't look like any SIG mags that I have seen. Especially with that weird spline/ catch in the back.

It's definitely for a gun with a paddle release like an AK/FAL/9mm Aug, etc. not a pushbutton release like a pistol.
So that's where my Top Secret experimental Mags went!

The P7 has a bottom magazine release and is a single stack 9mm. Without measurements of the mag in question, I felt it was a reasonable guess.

The Cobray M11 Mag comes close...

I agree, and lump that in with the "paddle" type. we're saying the same thing.
how about a Ruger P95 (or any "P" series) 30rd I found this http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7352/westerenrugerp9530rdbluuy1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
