I picked these up for 39.95 ea at Primary arms on black Friday sale.

I figured at that price, if they were garbage, I was out less than $100. Plus, they were made in Oklahoma, so I was supporting a small US business.

After receiving them, I gauged them pretty thoroughly and the dimensions I measured were 100% correct. They are well finished and the inside dimensions look very even as well, with no nasty machining marks.

They are constructed of 7075-T6 aluminum and tastefully marked.

The only thing I don't like is the bolt catch screw, but I can live with that on these two, if I can't figure a way to use a roll pin.

Overall, these appear to have been a tremendous value and I will use them to build a couple of rifles.

(This picture makes it appear the finishes are different, that is just the lighting, they are both identical in color.)

UPDATE: I had a Colt LPK and MBT 2S sitting in a box so I assembled one this afternoon. Everything went together perfectly, as I expected, after gauging as much as I could.

I want to get one of their integrated folding lowers but there are mixed reviews (https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/lower-receivers/ar-15-integrated-folding-lower-receiver-prod138643.aspx) on it at Brownells, so I have been waiting and hoping their QC improves. If you get one of those please post a report.

What getting a regular lower and adding a Law Tactical adapter?

That is a lot more expensive and if executed well I prefer the 17 Design solution.

I suppose. I own a Law Tactical one which works and I can move it to another AR if I want to. Looking at the IFLR-15 is integrated into lower.

One other reservation is that their folder requires their own proprietary buffer, no A5 compatibility.

They have A5-length buffers, probably without the bias spring. https://www.primaryarms.com/17-design-a5h2-buffer-for-integrated-folding-lower

Are these low shelf or high shelf on the inside?

Low, this shot also allows you to see how well they are machined inside.

I have their 17DM-180 Billet Lower Receiver on my BRN-180 pistol build. I like these lowers. They are a great alternative. I do like the bolt catch pin so as to not have to deal with a roll pin.

Update: I mated one lower with a matching 17D stripped, forged upper. Slapped on a fluted, 416R stainless, .223 Wylde, Ballistic Advantage barrel I picked up from Docsherm.

Everything went together very well, the tolerances are tight and machining excellent on the forged upper as well.

Turned out pretty nice and is light as well.
