Urgent Action: Carry in National Parks

For those of you who would like to be able to CCW in National Parks... (Note that you can already CCW in many National Forrests, as they basically adopt the law of the state in which they are located. If you have a Virginia CHL (or one recognized by Virginia), then you can carry in any National Forrest in Virginia. National Parks, unfortunately, do not work this way. The legislation discussed below is an attempt to rectify this situation.


Urgent! We need to roll up our sleeves and hit this hard!

Senator George Allen, keeping his word to gun owners, has introduced
S 4057, the National Park Second Amendment Restoration and Personal
Protection Act of 2006, which will allow gun owners to carry in a
National Park as long as the state where the National Park is located
allows carry in parks!

Senator Allen needs to get the bill a Floor vote in the Senate and
get it off to the House for passage that must happen before the end
of the current session of Congress.

We need to do the following things ASAP to help Senator Allen MAKE
THIS HAPPEN!:

1. Contact Senator John Warner and ask him to support S. 4057

so we can get the word out to gun owners across the nation! Send it

Update with new action items. This took about five minutes of my time. Do yourself a favor and just put down what you are working on and do it. We have very little time before Congressional leadership becomes much less gun-owner friendly. Let's make the most of the time we have...


In my last alert I had everyone contacting Senator John Warner and
Senator Bill Frist to get their support for Senator George Allen's
National Parks Carry bill, S 4057, and to get the bill moving.

Senator Allen's complete promise to gun owners was to introduce such
a bill (which he has now done) and to use, "every means I can to get
a vote on the legislation [S 4057] by the Senate" (this has yet to be
done and is critical).

So now it is urgent to contact Senator Allen and thank him for
introducing S 4057 and to encourage him to use any means necessary to
get a vote on that bill as soon as possible.
