Strictly given current ammo prices this ones pretty decent. Shot a bunch of Norma 223 in the past and it is good stuff. I bought a bunch. Free shipping on orders over $150
IMO it's a VG price worth posting. No limit either.

I have shot a bunch of that stuff, still have some left over from the before times.

Very accurate, great brass to reload, love the stuff.

.36/round back then, .48 now, go for it.

I bought a bunch of Norma .223 "match" ammo loaded with 77gr SMKs, and in my White Oak it shoots lights out — better than FGMM with 69gr SMKs.

I guess they're not loading SMKs anymore?

I have bought two cases of their 9mm 124 ball range ammo for just over $300 a case. Very reasonable prices in this environment, and it is good ammo. Haven't reloaded the brass yet but being Norma I don't anticipate any issues.

Also snatched up some 6.5-284 at a steal.

They still have the free shipping deal for orders over $150, but I think they charge your state's sales tax. I will add that you get a 10% off code to use one time if you sign up for their newsletter right now.

Their prices aren't great, but I think you will have a hard time doing better currently.

I think the 55gr FMJ 223 Norma "Tactical" is relabeled XM193 (even with the same circular crimp on the primers) even though the headstamp says "norma"; I don't think it's the higher quality stuff from years ago.

I was wondering.

I don't think so. The batch we got a while back is more accurate than m193.

I’ve never shot Norma 223, but we did shoot a couple boxes of 308 whitetail while sighting in and plinking a couple months back.
It was very accurate. Local academy had it for around $23 a box

It looks like what I said above was wrong. I just received some and the primer crimps are not the circular crimp that others have reported recently and most of us associate with Winchester XM193. What I received has the 3 stake primer crimp, so it is not relabeled Winchester XM193.

Also, the boxes I received say "3241" fps velocity instead of "3240" on the box in the picture on their website. I doubt that 1 fps makes a difference, but it's probably a way to differentiate it from a different production run/batch? My lot number says "2021-21" if anyone is curious.

I also noticed that their current website picture shows 20 round boxes, instead of the 30 round boxes that they are currently selling.

I don't reload, so I can't speak to the quality of the brass or anything else like that. But I thought some people here would want to know this.

I just received some

Who stocks this?

Who stocks this?

I ordered it direct from Norma using the link in the first post. Here it is again:

https://normashooting.com/shop/caliber/rifle/223/223-rem-55-gr-norma-tactical-fmj-30-rounds/

It looks like they still have the free shipping deal for orders over $150, and the 10% off code if you sign up for their newsletter. Not cheap, but not an absolute ripoff (with current ammo prices).

I'd love to get some of it for the crimped/staked primer brass.

Norma’s my go-to for inexpensive FMJ. The brass is great for handloading.

If you guys haven't loaded with Norma brass, you'll love it, it's excellent.

We scooped some up from the range a few months back. First time I saw it I was puzzled. Didn't know that there was norma factory loads.

I had not even seen this thread and when Mark and I were discussing Sunday objectives I said, I bought some Norma ammo, just for the brass mostly, but also to test out...he said there was interesting thread about that ammo, sure as shit. Range report to follow, we will shoot from 5R and Geissele rifles. It is labeled .223 so I hope it's not so hot that it smokes the brass.

This stuff shot pretty good. Held just over 1 MOA out of the Bolt gun, and under 1.5 MOA out of the Geissle gun.

I was going to set up the Chrono to see if it was really pushing the 3200 plus velocity, but it shot so snappy out of the gas gun, I could tell is was full power ammo. We'll probably pull the rest of it down and make mexican match with the primed brass.

Hmmm, I wonder how well the Midsouth 62 grain Hornady BTHP fly as a substitute.

A direct sub would be too hot with the existing powder charge. I'll usually pull down the powder, shave off at least a grain and reload it for blaster ammo in different brass.

I'll probably put some 77gr TMKs and XBR powder back in the brass.

They worked well for us for a long time a for cheap substitute, but these bullets will fly further and make hits more consistently. The 62's are good, but these 69's are a solid upgrade from the 62's. We could do a side by side comparison, that might be interesting. The 69's are a bit more accurate if my memory serves me.

But maybe I misunderstood, subbing out these 55gr bullets with 62's would be a huge upgrade. I apologize if I misunderstood your post.

Ya, I wouldn’t run the powder charge as is.

I think I bought a thousand of the RMR 69s about a month ago, but haven’t done anything with them yet.

I never developed a load with the 62s. I’ve just been using them for short range blaster ammo, saving my Norma.

I never really did a 62 gr load work up either. Just kinda cranked em up and shot them. I still have a thousand or so of the 62s.

You guys will like that brass. It really is decent ammo all by itself too, for 55gr.

I've got quite a bit of my staple load of a Hornady or Everglades 62gr FMJ over 24.4gr H335 loaded into that brass, after we burned through the 500 round case we got.

I'll get to load some of the brass this week.

When buying the 223 ammo, I grabbed some 308 in 168's and 175's to play with and keep the brass. We shot the 168's this Sunday. We shot out of the DD D5 and the FN SPR. Mark felt he couldnt get solid/ comfortable on the DD gun so that group will probably close up on another Sunday, but we still got some decent groups.

Sub MOA ammo, it was also windy as fck. Going to shoot the 175's next week.

Shoots sub MOA and you get Norma brass. Super good deal if you reload.

The Norma Tactical 55gr is good stuff with good brass. I originally grabbed a couple 30rd boxes on sale here at fleet farm mainly for the brass, and have been impressed with it. Very consistent and accurate. Chrono'd at ~2950fps in my 16, and ~3075 in my 20". That's a pretty solid deal on it!

The crimps on the brass are not very beefy.. which is good or bad depending on your preference. The pockets aren't that tight, but they seat a primer creamy smooth. (I hand prime).

We haven't shot any yet to see how the brass holds up (primer pocket-wise). I'm waiting to run all of the brass at once with some 77 TMKs for a more premium batch of ammo.
