In response to the barn find thread, show us your classic car. I drove F100s, F150s, C10s, LTDs, Chevettes, and this beauty, a 1973 Buick Centurion convertible with a 455 CID four-barrel.

Technically it's a classic since it's 20, almost 21 years old.

Thanks for making me feel old... I drove this car off the lot brand new. Only thing left original is the body and some of the interior lol.

Haha didn’t mean to make you feel old. They got that one when I was 17 in 2001, brand new 2002 WS6, black on black. It’s completely stock. I had a lot of fun in that car.

Ran lean and wouldn’t idle or overheated? No, it ran awesome. The headers dragged on everything because they went under the k frame. I had a Thermoquad on a 340 intake.

I am just not built for a "Classic Car", and yes, I love automobiles.
I would worry every time I parked it and walked away.

I had a nice Mustang GT and went in to the bookstore, it looked like someone drug a stroller down the side of it when I came back out.

Love the 'Vettes especially the C3's, since I grew up in the 70's. My C8 isn't old enough to be a classic, but it's amazing how far GM has come with it.

For the purposes of registration some states consider 20 years as “Classic” 2001 TA in 2022 counts.

I mean its an antique at this point so its a "classic" right?

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024x768q90/924/CGHe87.jpg

My 96 Honda Acty awd mid engine 5 speed right hand drive "beast". Its just a fun toy to drive at a massive like 38 hp lol. It will do 55 to 60 without issue other than taking a little bit to get there, I've gotten it to like 78 but that was pretty sketchy.

In NC at 25 it’s no emissions inspection. 35 is no inspection at all. If you can register it as an antique auto they only charge taxes based on a valuation of $500. My classics end up costing about $47.50 per year for plates ($45 for AA plate as opposed to the usual $35 one) and taxes.

What year is that? How well does the convertible top keep rain out? My t tops are like being in a leaky submarine when it rains.

Have you changed to new weatherstripping? That might help. My C3 tops don’t leak, but the passenger window gears need to be replaced so it rolls all the way up. I did buy a NIB a vintage set of vinyl foldable T-Tops and an original style removable rear window that I can’t wait to install.

I have a new convertible top on it and I have the hard top. about 85% is still original and she doesn't leak but the windows don't align fully (go up and seal shut) with the convertible is up with a slight opening but it's manageable.

For you T tops, I'd replace the stripping, have you tried that.

That's almost the perfect corvette. Yeah, I know I need new stripping.

I'm not sure that's true; it's 20 years = o emotion inspection in NC. My 2001 had it's first NC inspection last May.

Staring Dec 1 2019 it's 20 years old. Plus, not every county in NC even requires emissions testing. Only 22 of the 100 counties require emissions testing.

They apparently changed the law in 19 then. Used to be 25 no emissions. This was back when more counties required emissions though. Every year I register my 54, 64, and 77 Vettes (and previously a 76 Benz) for the past probably decade there is no inspection at all. We have houses in two counties and register all our cars in the non-emissions one, and that may be why I didn’t notice the change in law. We did that after finding out Raleigh charged an extra $30 fee per vehicle for the privilege of having a car registered within the city limits. I think we had eight cars at the time, six Corvettes and our two DDs.

Yup. We only moved in May 2019 and I didn't bring my TA down till Dec 2019 so I didn't know it before the change.

Wake Co also charges more property tax on the car which is why we drove around with NJ plates until be bought a house outside of Wake Co. LOL
