View Full Version : Does M855/M855A1 Reduce Service Life
Has the adoption of M855 and M855A1 reduced the service life of the M4 and or components?
Has there been any changes to replacement schedules of M4 components since adopting M855/M855A1?

Has there not been any analysis of data from military use?

If you want to see what reduces barrel life look at the flame temps of the powders you are burning in your barrel.

I know a guy that knows a guy, who knows a guy that once spoke to a guy that swears on the life of his deceased pet rock that M855-A1 burns barrels up, and requires armorers to replace barrels after each weapons qual.
Not if you use the correct magazine's with A1.
The A1 trip material and the increase in pressures *IS* harder on the barrel. It’s too expensive to plink with so I would not worry much. Whatever barrel SOCOM is using with their new Geissele uppers should be studied/sought.
