If you're not going to be using your optic for a period of months, is it OK to leave the battery installed or should it be removed?

What type of battery? The only type of battery I'm comfortable setting and forgetting is lithium.

I've had alkaline batteries corrode and become stuck in optics and flashlights over time but have never had the same issue with lithium batteries

This would be a CR2032. Presumably they aren't known for corrosion?

You should be good.

I have had those in things for years (over a decade in a computer) in hot/cold/etc and never had a problem.

This is optics, computers, garage door openers and security system sensors.

Assuming it's a lithium you should be good to go. I can't recall ever seeing non-lithium 2032s.

If only s couple months, and batteries are pretty fresh, wouldn't worry about it. If 6 months or more, I'd consider pulling them.
If anything Duracell, take them out right now and throw them in the trash, then replace with something more suitable...

I think I have a 2032 in a cheap RDS in my 10/22 that's been there over 5 years unused. Not a problem. AA and AAA batteries though.... they'll puke on your electronics

True for alkalines. I use a lithium primary in my Aimpoint M4S without issue.

Yep. I think Pappabear had a comp M4 that the battery started to puke. He switched all of them to Lithium after that.

I've left CR2032s in multiple optics for months/years, never any problems that I can tell.

Is there a problem with Duracell 2032s that I don't know about?

Curious about this too, AFAIK Duracell CR2032s are made by Panasonic.

I've actually got Duracell 2032s in several optics.
