My state (WA) just passed a mag ban that goes into effect 7/1 and I was looking for metal, preferably aluminum, 40 rounders. I like collecting old school actual high capacity mags for my retro guns and have this void in my collection.

It seems C Products used to make decent ones but stopped years ago. Anyone have a source for anything similar?

I bought some steel ASC mags and they wouldn't even fit in mag wells they were so out of spec.

I may have 1 black one. It was very unreliable at feeding. No idea who made it, it may even be steel.

I'm not aware of any legit 40 round aluminum magazines on the market. None.

If you can’t find any might as well get some PMAG 40’s, at least you’ll have something before the ban.

Get some pmag 40's and some d-60's while you can.

I have this old gem! Was given to me for free with a warning that’s it’s a POS. Used it twice and fed fine but from what I’m seeing here he was probably right. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220329/f97f038d642b08a50c3873c0e2296c85.jpg

Get some of the big surefire mags.

I agree. 40 round AR mags are unwieldy and silly. I've had decent luck with my Surefire 60 rounder although I almost always run 20 round mags anymore.

I love my 20 round mags. OP should buy a case Pmags and call it a day.

+1 on the 20 rounders, but if you want higher cap than 30 my Magpul D60 drum has been flawless.

I’m not aware of any good aluminum 40 rounder.

SKS does make a steel 40 rounder, I’ve never tried one but their steel 30s run fine in my RRA, Anderson & PSA lowers.

Send it...

Didn't sterling 40 rounders work pretty well. I have a few in the stash and seem to remember using them in 3 gun match's back in the day.

I'm looking for an aluminum 40 rounder for my retro rifles- I've got plenty of 40 round Pmags and a drum, this is more of a collector thing than a practical use. Also I prefer USGI mags anyway (Okay Ind).
