Looks like SIG continues to do well in the government contract department:

"Sig Sauer Inc., Newington, New Hampshire, was awarded a $157,300,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the production of .300 Norma Magnum M1163 ball ammunition and .338 NM armor piercing M1162 cartridges. Bids were solicited via the internet with three received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of June 7, 2027. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Newark, New Jersey, is the contracting activity (W15QKN-22-D-0019)."

Someone double check me on this but I think I read the 338 Norma mag is the new "go to" long range sniping round. Ballistically it somewhat rivals the .50.

I'm not sure if it rivals the .50, but it's identical to the .338 Lapua, but in a case that allows for longer bullets and better feeding from magazines than the Lapua; the .338 Norma is basically the Lapua 2.0. The .50, due to it's sheer size and powder charge, is probably going to be more effective against light armored targets and in a general anti-material role. However, I can see the new Norma-chambered machine gun replacing a lot of M2s on vehicles, as they will be smaller, lighter, will carry more ammo, and still have the range of the .50.

I knew Sig had their own line of ammo, but I thought they just contracted out some other outfit that actually had ammo manufacturing plants to make it and then they slapped their name on it. Do they now have their own ammo plants? Seems they would need to to get a multi-million round ammo deal.

Same link has another more interesting contract. WTF??? Over 8M for a few classes? Why do they even need motorcycles? Why do they need training if they already use motorcycles? For that kind of money you could hire 10 full time instructors for 10 years at least.

American Motorcycle Training Inc., The Villages, Florida, is awarded an $8,201,817 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, single award contract for motorcycle safety training commercial services in support of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Safety Division.

Sig must of donated mucho dinero to Biden's campaign ! SIG got a bunch of contracts during Trump’s time, too, so if you think bribing presidents is how they got them, it wouldn’t be just Joe.

Service Members are usually required to attend approved safety courses before they can ride motorcycles on base, with the intent of reducing serious traffic accidents. Its probably for personally owned motorcycles rather than ones that will be used on duty, but those exist, also, for reasons that I will not get into here.

Gonna have to go with a big NO on that.

You realize Sig is one of the few gun companies pushing the envelope for supporting 2A freedom.
