Does anyone have any experience with the Ghost rear sight Novak produces? I'm considering one for use on a Smith 4566, but cant seem to find much talk about them or any clear images either.

Best pics I could find:

I've never tried them. They look interesting...and there's certainly lots of daylight around the front sight with that setup....but I wonder if it would have sort of the same issues the XS has....

The XS-type issue is my concern.

Never used one. Plenty of competitive shooters gave them a try and didn't find them as useful as traditional notch and post designs.

However, if my recollection is correct, I don't think the XS issues would apply. The top edge of the sight is still intended to align with the top edge of your front post (I think). Thus, you're just aligning it horizontally in a wide u-notch.

Of course, there's also the other obvious issue of the sloped front being unsuitable for traditional stoppage clearance techniques.

That rear sight looks like it would work much better with a dot front sight than with a post.

I might have to pick one up and stick it on my Big Dot equipped pistol to see how it works.

I had this rear sight along w/ Novak's front night installed on a Colt LW Commander a few years ago and was very happy with them out to 25 yds. It was my edc for about 2 years.

For up close, very fast and aligned quickly, easier for me to focus on the front sight than a standard 3-dot set up, about as fast as the night-only front set-up I use now.
