Has anybody tried to mount a decent sling to a SLR-106 yet? I'm wondering what is the best technique? I was originally considering just mounting a Vickers Tactical/ Blue Force Gear two point to the existing rear sling mount and buying a hook attachment for the front (BFG has AK front hook attachments available, you just have to call them because they are not listed on the website).

The problem is the stock rear sling mount is on the wrong side of the weapon. It also looks like it was intended for nothing more than slinging the weapon over your shoulder when the stock is folded. That’s not going to work.

BFG had originally recommended this set-up for a fixed stock AK:

I'm wondering if there is enough space for the stock to fold & lock if I go with this set-up? I'm hoping one of you guys has already fought this battle.

i have this problem too...

so far my solution has just been to mount a single point sling to the rear mount and just deal with the inconvenience...

lets hope someone has an answer!

:D

I just knew somebody was already working on this.

How does it work? I'm used to having my slings mounted to just the left side of the weapon. Your set-up has them split with the stock deployed. I'm not sure how that would work.

I just did some experimenting and this isn't going to work, at least not with a functional side-folding SLR-106FR. It's supposed to go exactly were the optic rail sits inside the stock cutout when folded. Now I'm back to square one.

Well, all I can say is that you need to try it out for yourself; if you lived nearby I'd be happy to loan you my rifle and sling.

I am still shaking this thing out (rifle and sling) - I am using the H&K hook adapter (I didn't know there was a special AK version?!)and am looping the end of the sling through the rear mount as per a normal sling. It allows the 106to hang quite naturally.

I will try to get some more pics soon.

Thekatar - I don't mean to hi-jack this thread but did that Swift safety w/bolt hold require any fitting?

The SWIFT I put in my 106 required no fitting. If I could only do one mod to an AK, I'm pretty sure the SWIFT with BHO would be it.
