"An Air Force F-35 crashed at the end of a runway near Salt Lake City, officials said on Wednesday.

The F-35 crashed at Hill Air Force Base at the north end of the runway, the 388th Fighter Wing said in a tweet.

During an evening press conference, 388th Fighter Wing Commander, Col. Craig R. Andrle, confirmed the pilot safely ejected and that no one was harmed."

Dangerous business, these things happen, glad the pilot went home to his family that day.

I was going to comment something along those same lines. We deal in violence in the military. Whether it is the Ranger getting dirty and nasty in his own vomit while doing PT in indoc, or the pretty flyboy in the sky, the military exists for one reason, and it ain't peaceful conduct.

I'll take the F35 loss in training, over losing a bird in combat any day of the week. Combat losses while be riding along soon enough once Chine decides to bounce.

Saw lots of those earlier this month while on vacation. Hope the pilot is ok.

Machines fail. If they happen to fail while in the sky...well. At least the ejector seat seems to have been working.

People fail also, having anyone but the absolute very best pilot our war planes is pure folly .
