Does anyone have a pic of a 10.25", 10.3" and 10.5" AR barrel with a AAC-M42000 flash suppressor on it? I'm wanting to have one of my SBR barrels shortened, which is currently a LMT 14.5" which I want to make 10" someting, whichever is the shortest that a AAC M42000 mount will still fit.

ETA: oops I didn't see the whole FSB thing, but at least food for thought with "the shortest possible" in mind

Rob, If you want to take another look at the 10.5 upper that you gave me a hand on just give me a call or an I/M.

Good luck

Mike,
Could you just measure how far the back of the flash suppressor is from the bayonet lug? I'm just wanting to know if I'll have to cut part of my bayonet lug off. I sent my barrel to Randall to cut to 10.3" and open up the gas port.

Later,
Robb

Why does everyone want to put a M42K on a SBR? Isn't that what the SCAR-SD was made for? Short barrel, short can, keeps everything short.

If you plan on running the suppressor most of the time, leave the gas port the size it is. Short barrels, with big gas ports and suppressors is a perfect receipe for bolt carrier bounce.

The can will add more than enough back pressure run with the small gas port.

I plan on running it with a can some of the time but I already own two M4-2000s ;) and 1 Gemtech M4-96 and I want to work 100% without the can as well. If I were a NFA dealer and had a tax free inventory AAC-SCAR, sure I'd use it. If you want to give me one and pay the tax for me I certainly would accept it! If not I'll just use what I got. (run what I brung so to speak).

Ah, that explains why you NOVA people drive all the way down to Richmond to buy suppressors from me..... or maybe it's just my great deals.

Rob,
It looks like you will be good to go at 10.3 inches. I measured my 10.5" and there is at least 1/3 of an inch that is in reserve.

Good luck and post some picks!

If you want to keep the FSB, you'll need a non-lugged FSB.

I dont have the M42k to be sure yet, but it looks like it wouldnt screw all the way on with the lug in the way.

Steve-

How ya doing? Nice to see you over here. I bought a threaded 92fs from you back in June or so through the other board. Everything works great now!

This is how it ended up. I had to cutoff the bayonet lug. Barrel is now 10.3" thanks the guru Randall at www.ar15barrels.com

Very nice Robb very nice..I hope to have you build me a 10.5" Noveske build and would like to eventually get a AAC-SCAR to top it off.

ETA: I hope the comment about your boss saying it is a sexy little thing you were talking about your wife right!!!

I noticed today that you actually dont have to cut the lugs off on a 10.5" the suppressor mounted all the way on and did not hit the lug. I may cut it off anyway just for looks.

sorry about the crappy pic:

I used the old mount which slides over the barrel about a 1/2" and I couldn't tighten the mount all the way because it (the mount) ran into the lug, I cut the lug off but it looks okay.

Unmodified bayo lug, 10.3" CMMG Barrel. Setup for demo in this thread only. This mount will eventually be put on a Noveseke CQBR barrel.
