my friend had a usp compact that he wanted to see what the slide would look like duracoated in FDE. I had never done a flip color like that before... (only FDE frame, and slide black.) well it came out fairly nice. dont know if I would do it to my sidearm, but he loves it!! what do you think?

I finished at night and I did not have good lighting, so it was a bitch trying to get the right color on digits. its a tad bit darker in real life.

I love it!

I added FDE grips to my 1911 but THAT looks spectacular!

I guess it looks cool.

What I never understood is why all "SOCOM" trials pistols came with FDE frames and black slides? I get that you want the grip to blend when the gun is holstered, but the slide is the most visible part of the pistol when it is in your hands. Why not FDE the WHOLE pistol?

The answer depends on how much of a conspiracy nut we want to be.

someone thought it looked hella cool
someone was concerned that the FDE slide would make for more glare or otherwise less useful sight picture
making durable FDE polymer is much easier than making a durable FDE metal finish
some companies already had FDE frames and it was supposed to be a COTS program
