Is there a good way to stick a light on the end of a pump shotgun, specifically an 870?

I don't mind dropping the money on it as it seems to be the best system going right now but I was just wondering if there was anything else that ought to be on my radar.

Check out streamlight. They make a mount that goes behind the mag cap and is a weaver rail.http://www.botachtactical.com/stre870shmo.html

do you mean this?:

or this?:

while both are expensive options I personally prefer to have the light on the forend so I don't have to worry about the cord for the light getting hung up on anything. I especially like the m69 railed forend

I meant the first one.

Why in the hell is there a GG&G BUIS on that 2nd gun??

not to get off topic but the shotgun with bead front site, eotech and buis is well stupid. Trying to get a check weld on a site that sits that high off a rail system is almost imposable. I tried running one on a vang 870 with his new rear site with rail. The only thing that worked was an aimpoint micro.

As for the forend being a m900 good luck. MAYBE a stubby VFG.

thats great but that was the first pic that I found on google so lets not worry about how it's set up and we can focus on the options for mounting a light to an 870 even though I really really want to ask if you were also using a high-tube m16stock adapter

Run a surefire m69 rail and a tlr-1 or G2 light in a mount. The reason I say run it the light on the rail is you will always be able to turn it on or off.

And no i was running a speedfeed stock.

Well there you go.

Notice the angle of the stock in that second picture. See how it's in line with the rest of the shotgun? That's specifically done for mounting high optics.

Alternatively Mesa Tactical has a lower mount which would be required for a lack of optics.

Savvy?

whoever built that shotgun has never carried it all day in a school. Looks awful heavy.

Couple of other options for Mr W, Streamlight makes a couple of different lightweight mounts for the M3 type lights, one goes between the magazine tube and end cap or mag extension, the other bolts to the mag extension. I have used both, they work fairly well for the cost. HTH

Yes i did notice the ar stock on the above 870. With a speedfeed stock the micro aimpoints work. If i wanted something that felt like an ar I would use an ar not a shotgun. Kinda one of those things lets see how many more moving parts we can put on something that is almost bullet proof to make it run less reliable. thats my point.

How does adding an adjustable length stock and pistol grip in *ANY* way affect reliability or function?

the knoxx stocks and cold weather (alaska) thats how

so use a fixed stock. in any case optics have a higher line of sight so a cheakweld that works with regular sights won't with most optics which is why mesa tacticle makes 2 different ar15 stock adapters.

These work well for the 870... Replaces the foreend with a rail so you can mount your favoriate AR goodies...

Paladin,

I put that same setup on my 870 SBS and it didn't work for me.

It cut my hand up slamming into the light when working the action.

I haven't tried it on my 870P 18.5 yet and I'm not sure it would make any difference.

I hate that too. For less than $100 with the recent $79 TLR1 and about $20 for the mount you had a damn bright weapon light for an 870.

I'd like to hear your experience shooting with it.
