Mass killing in Riverside isn't getting a lot of coverage to the point of(unless I have missed it) not even mentioning the murder weapon or the origin(s) of firearm(s) used in the shootout that followed.

Haven't seen a thing on it. And I have a whacky click bait feed at work.

It was on the Foxnews website page the other day and on my local (Utah) news website. I've seen follow ups on both as well. I don't watch TV so no idea if there has been airplay of it.

But no, it hasn't been a huge story. Should get more attention based on the facts (Older loser uses internet to prey on teen girl, murders her family). This kind of thing, less the murders, is all too common and people need to be made more aware.

At least the perp got what he had coming.

Oh is this the former cop (or something) that catfished the teen and killed the family then got killed in a shoot out? That was on my click bait quite a bit.

Yeah. That is a pretty fantastic story for the low amount of coverage. I guess you only get the big time if a gay/tranny is hurt.

How does this play into the "only cops should have guns" and "defund the police" narratives?

I saw this. "Allegedly" a Virginia State trooper drove from Virginia to California to pick up a 15 year old girl he had been met on line. He took her and killed the 3 relatives and set fire to their house.
The police caught up with him 200 miles away and he had the girl. He shot at the police and they shot at him. He was dead of a self inflicted wound. The girl was unharmed.

Supposedly graduated the VSP academy, left them for some reason, and was just recently hired by a SO to be a jailer.

These are happening with such frequency that people are becoming desensitized and uninterested.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — The suspect in a Southern California triple homicide who died in a shootout with police was a Virginia law enforcement officer who investigators believe drove across the country to meet a teenage girl before killing three members of her family.

Austin Lee Edwards, 28, also likely set fire to the family's home in Riverside, California, on the day of the shooting Friday before leaving with the girl, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Deputies exchanged gunfire with and fatally shot Edwards after locating him with the teenager later that day, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and Riverside Police said in news releases.

Until last month, Edwards was a Virginia State Police trooper and was recently hired as a sheriff's deputy in that state, spokespersons said.

I had heard about it. The link in the OP’s post says Needles is 30 miles NW of Riverside. Typical sloppy journalism. Needles is appropriately 185 miles east of Riverside. My understanding is he wasn’t yet to needles.

A few details have popped up recently.

Going out on a limb that the non-reporting on the cause(s) of death details was to delay and deflect the source of the firearm used.

Edwards was known to not be stable long before getting hired on.

Edwards' last agency exhibiting some questionable behavior.

It's California, just like Chicago people get shot every day & it's to the point that no one cares so they don't report on it.
If the people in that area want to live like that, then that's what the get.
If it was happening in my town I would be demanding something be done about it, but it's out of my town & out of my control.
