What does it offer that a Radian Raptor or BCM 4x4 doesn't already do better and with less cringey bling? Or even the old Badger Tactical Latch, which can be surprisingly lefty friendly...

In the history of the AR-15/M16 family, has the charging handle ever been a problematic component?

In my limited understanding, only when MADE so... *casts Southpaw Side-Eye at PRI Gasbuster*

I have a few Radian/Geissele CH's, and they're cool, but at the end of the day, A standard $15 CH works just fine.

I will add, extended charging handles suck when you don't have a PC on....Digs into you when slung. The standard one doesn't do that.

Can you imagine tripping and landing on the pointy end of that thing lol. Or even just feeling it digging into you when slung.

If i'm going to go with an aftermarket CH, I'll stick to BCM, Geissele, or Radian.

Yes. If you ever actually drop an AR that’s slung up to draw handgun, move, climb, whatever- this would be Sternum piercer.

Thats a sharp looking CH!

DoubleW
12-17-22, 18:24
That looks stupid AF. Way too sharp and way too long on the levers. Geissele, Radian & BCM have this market cornered so really no reason to even try.

On the topic of charging handles, anyone have any long term experience with the Daniel Defense rip and grip charging handle? I generally use BCM but I've got the DD ch on a couple uppers. Wasn't sure if I should switch them out.

Manufacturer’s release said that thing has an integrated gas key, forward assist and incorporates snag resistant technology. Sounds awesome and groundbreaking and without those tidbits of information would have never guessed it had so many features just by looking at it. In fact, I would guess the opposite.

I may be a bit simple but my idea of snag free is a little different.

I suppose when it's buried in your back it will pull out snag free so long as it's just in and out.

According to their website the oversized latches are simultaneously easier to use with a gloved hand and wont snag on your chest rig "exposing your bolt".

I dunno, this charging handle doesn't seem much different than any of the other "me too" Raptor charging handle copy cat designs out there which make up 87% of the current charging handle market.

I stuck with the Vltor charging handles after Bravo Company made the decision to make their charging handles into just another Raptor copy cat.

Can it be used to grapple up side of building to roof? A bit to pointy for my liking, but to each their own, it's your money & snagging, not mine. The orange powder coat has to be +$10, lol.

The ones I like the most are the ones that have a gas channel cut in and it exits to right side just in front of the handle.

Just as-eample, many others have a half moon cut.

Hopefully this thread will continue and the "garbage nonsense" idea of no humor, both in uniform and out, is now buried once and for all. Or perhaps some would like to live in the world of "The beatings will continue until morale improves".

I still like the Radian Raptor series the best for my un-suppressed rifles. For suppressed rifles so far I been happy with the Breekarms Warhammer micro ** mod 2 **. It has a 1 Year Money Back Guarantee
and if at anytime the charging handle breaks or fails, they will replace it at no cost or give you a full refund for the lifetime of the product and even at the current price point!

I've got some old BCM Gunfighter CH, and one that is newer production. They are great little additions to any rifle. I tried a Geissele and it would get hung up when charging with the right side. This thing....looks like asking for trouble. I shoot only suppressed among 5 or so AR platforms, and never have a major issue with gas blowback using the BCM CH (Dead Air and SiCo cans).

Plus, AR's with red/blue/purple/etc anodizing tell me that the owner is either a girl, a child, or an idiot.

The standard Radian Raptor is my go to, have then on almost all my gun.

I am curious about the CH with gas channels and how they work shooting left handed, seems like it would be worse then dealing with a little blowback out of the ass end, but I don't know for sure.

Or all three, probably with gender ID issues.
