Well, they say that styles come around again after a time. God, I hope not (1975 JC Penny catalog).

That's not the 1970's.
All three would be smoking and two of them would have a cocktail glass in their hand.

The upside was; all the mini skirts and hot pants. We were wearing Levi's, t shirts & flannels and laughed at the Leisure Suit crowd.

Makes me want to kung fu kick somebody and then escape by hang gliding off those collars….

They must have used that exact cut collar as a universal size cost saving measure. Several pics of less than 5 year old me in suits with collars that were shoulder width.

Ill take that all day every day over this insane faggotry of wearing your saggy ass jeans below your ass and wearing a f-in hoodie year round.
I loathe those damn things.

I retired from the Military and then went in to contracting.
For the life of me I have went from one Uniform to another. At 61 it's tan cargo pants and a black or concert t-shirt, winter includes a sweat shirt.
Honestly I'm just too damned old for learning fashion.

I’d rock that middle outfit, with platform shoes…. I could use a little ‘control top’ to help contain my tactical muffin top.

Holmes was the original model, but they had to let him him go due to the pants being advertised violating moral standards of the time.

Not according to the tight pants.

My GrandDad owned a mens clothing business from 1957-97 & man the styles over those four decades...the pics are great. I'll need to see if Dad & uncle can dig some out.

Covered it all from what you see in the OP to western wear (bet they sold sansabelt slacks into the hundred thousands)...what always amazed me is some of the oldest pics was how many men wore hats daily compared to the later years.

My dad retired from the Marines in 1975, and judging by pictures, his choice of civilian attire was absolutely horrific and horrendous. I'm not sure if it was his taste or what the fashion was at the time.

That’s not a style that Carrie’s throughout the country. Plumbers and wannabe rappers, though Duluth Trading does something about the plumbers with their long tees and flex fit pants. The wannabes don’t know to shop there though.

Trying to find the commercial where a wife is in the morgue trying to ID a body believed to be her husband and asks the coroner to flip him over so she can compare the body to a picture of her husband working under the sink. Think it was a hardware company.

Regarding the hoodie, I did too until I had cancer surgery. They broke my thermostat, and now I am cold all year round, even when it's 105. So I wear a hoodie to keep my chemo induced bald head warm.

I always thought the heat loss through the head thing was a bunch of crap as a kid with a full head of hair(and to be fair it was usually the hyperbole most or all heat claimed), but sans the hair I haven't left home without a hat in about 25 years between cold and sunburn.

In the early 2000’s I knew an older man that still wore those pants and big collars on his shirts. He had a big Elvis rolling top hair cut as well. His name was Sid and he was a smoker. I can still remember when he would speak with you he would open one side of his mouth like popeye and either blow smoke off to the side or just air. Didn’t matter to him, it was just habit. He was a used car salesman and was slick as can be.

My Grandfather had quite the collection of quality Hats.
I really admired them and having inherited the Giant Head I thought "Who else needs a 7 3/4's fedora?"

Did he wear those slick white shoes with the little gold bar on them?

I don't have any quality hats...caps, boonies, or wool/fleece depending on temps and what I am doing, but ended up with an oversized noggin too.

Co-worker came in on Christmas dinner day a few years back dressed as Christmas Vacation Eddie with the shoes, white sweater and dickie. He said a lady in a gas station complimented him on how dressed up he was.

Goes well with the rich Corinthian leather in your new Cordoba.

Thank god none of my family was into that fashion back in the day. My dad was a short sleeve button up shirt, tie wearing, FAA weenie with normal slacks. He despised bell bottoms so I never had to suffer through that.

My Dad loved nice clothes and always wore a suit, which is odd because he looked like a Neanderthal with a nice tie.
He also had the Cordoba with the rich Corenthyan Leather.

But ended up with an oversized noggin too.
My Son had to have a special ordered Football helmet for PeeWee football. Poor kid.

Yep. Me, too. I keep a stash on my dresser beside my bed and right before I walk downstairs in the morning I put something on my head. I must have about 20, 25 ball caps, six or seven watch caps/beanies, from over the years, and six or seven hoodies.

Regarding fedora's and classic hats, I had a couple uncles that wore them, and when they passed away I don't know if they donated them or what, but they all disappeared. I would love to have had a couple.

I was in high school in 1975. I did not dress like that. The other competing style was the preppy look. I was somewhere in the middle I guess. The thing I didn't like about the modern clothes then was they were all 100 percent polyester, even the shirts. That crap was hot and stank if you wore it in hot weather.

I remember that too and a lot of it was teetering on being abrasive. Acrylic yarn sweaters were slightly less irritating than fiberglass insulation.

Surprising how the properties of polyester and acrylic materials are much different now.

I got a couple cheap flat caps, ball caps dont exist for me anymore, I have 3 beanies but I only wear one because it actually keeps my head warm and the others are just style.
No not a tim pool beanie, he wears stocking caps.

Same here. Besides, in ‘75 it was mostly fatigues and occasionally TW’s or Class A’s.
