I am doing a poll. I hope I do it correctly. The question is in the title. The stripped lower could be new or one that was completely stripped and rebuilt. These would include the receiver extension.

I've built a lot. In addition to all of mine I used to work at a shop where I built them for customers on a regular basis.

Doesn’t matter.

Built & Rebuilt more times than I care to count. Well over 20 different AR15s & Clones.

When you have the right tools & equipment, it just becomes all too simple & easy not to.

Looking at picture I have taken I would guess something like 80 or 90.

Never thought of that. The real reason was due to the responses in my thread about pre assessment of a lower prior to the build.

However you bring up a valid point. If the mods suspect this thread could somehow be an issue, please delete.

Well, well, well over 20. As a PD armorer, as well as industry work, they are stripped down and rebuilt, or just built on a regular basis. My details, and anyone else in the firearm industry, or a LE/MIL Armorers will probably skew your poll.

Another interesting question is how many do you have sitting at home waiting for an upper. I built out two nice lowers last election just in case, and have two Aero pistol lowers just in case I want to take an SBR across state lines and dont want the whole SBR deal.

I have bought very few complete guns compared to how many M4's I have built out. You know, I'll grab this stripped lower, oh a G trigger is on sale, damn that's nice rail.....complete gun.

After looking at these numbers make me feel conservative, I should go buy a lower, LOL.

I voted 11-20 because I can't remember for sure but it's probably actually over 20.

After investing in the necessary equipment to mill and cerakote, I don’t even bother buying lowers any more.

My last 4 were all 80%, I have more blanks in stock and even a 100% lower and I already have more AR’s than I can shoot.

It’s relaxing …..at least that is how I justify it.

Papa Bear: I have seven (stripped) lowers a leaping....

Seriously, I'm at a crossroads. I love putting these things together, and absent handguards a couple barrels, stocks and receiver extensions, I have enough parts to turn the lowers into complete rifles. The problem is that I've run out of relatives to gift them to.

My experience is that if you use decent parts, you can't sell them for what you have in them.

Fun figuring using stuff I normally use:

PSA Stealth Lower: $59.95

BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System - Mod 1 - T2: $123.95 (generally use Magpul enhanced receiver tube and build buffers off of A50' or 1's)

PSA Classic LPK w/o FCG: $39.99

Joe Bob Ambi Safety: $14.95

LaRue MBT2S: $89.00

B5 Type 23 Grip (Primary Arms): $19.95

B5 Bravo Stock (Primary Arms): $59.95

BCM Blemished Upper: $59.99

LaRue LAT Handguard 13.2: $162.00

Toolcraft C158 BCG (PSA): $99.99

Radian Raptor LT: $74.95

Geissele Super Gas Block: $80.00 (I still have at least three of these in Carbon Steel @ > $40 hanging on the board, but G no longer makes them so paying double)

BCM Gas Tube - Mid: $15.00

Smith Vortex G6A2 (Brownell's): $79.49 (Smith site was down, generally get the one already drilled)

Green Mountain Barrels GM-M19 14.5" 5.56x45mm 1:7 Twist Mid-Length: 194.85

I'm sure I left something out, but that comes to: $1169.51.

I'm afraid I wouldn't get far at a gun show trying to get my money out of a mix-master rifle.

@26_Inf Good to see you post. When the Wilson Combat blem lowers went live a couple weeks ago, I wondered if you had one for your collection.

Thats true for most AR's. It's not like an AR is rare.

I lurk more than anything lately. I missed the Wilson deal, but stepped from this reply to check it out. I think I ordered one, but they didn't ask for FFL info, so I'll end up calling them in the AM.

Thanks.

Hell, I've got one lower I've rebuilt over 20 times.

Im up to 6 on 1 lower because I kept taking parts from it for something else.
It was my first lower and I kept getting better ones as time went on.
i think im done messing with it now if I can find an upper for it.

Built all 8 of my ARs. Have yet to buy a complete build from a manufacture.

The real question is how many ghost guns have you built, just asking for a friend.
