These are just the living guys and considering how many people do true heroic things in combat (often unnoticed and undocumented) these few Men have been recognized for what they did above the call of duty.
Made my eyes leak.

Shoot. I thought it was going to be a porn video. #disappointed

Seriously, that's pretty cool. Some of those were absolutely political and remain, um, controversial. That said, the one-offs should not detract from the awesomeness of the other 99.9%. I agree with you: how many other men deserve the MoH but never got it? Probably 100 fold.

Thanks for sharing.

My first First Sergeant would occasionally read from that in our first formation of the day.
Pretty inspiring stuff before a 0500 PT run.

Most of it. I discovered that the MoH was handed out pretty liberally during the Civil War for things that would barely rate a bronze star today. Also saw some complete BS examples like MacArthur who got one for his "leadership" in the Philippines, being as how it was lost to the Japanese and he was one of the few who was evacuated. Seemed like a slap in the face to everyone on the Bataan death march.

The official accounts can be found here:

You can pick any name from the video and search for it.

Definitely worth reading. I will say that prior to World War One, the citations seldom offer much detail.

Here are just a few examples of great interest though:

Thomas "Gene" Atkins (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/thomas-eugene-gene-atkins)

John Franklin Baker (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/john-f-baker-jr)

Roy Benavidez (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/roy-p-benavidez)

John Canley (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/johnny-l-canley)

Dwight Birdwell (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/dwight-w-birdwell)

Bennie Adkins (https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/bennie-g-adkins)

...and many more such stories.

There are also a few men who who received the award more than once.
