The idea behind this thread is to showcase the lesser known brands. What makes something a lesser know brand? If you go to a few different gun stores and wouldn't see the item or AR15, lets call it "lesser known". Specific examples might be Vltor (when was the last time you saw anything of theirs in a store), Faxon, Midwest Industries, AXTS, Fortis, PSA, Larue, Centurion Arms, Cross Machine Tool, Rainier Arms, Wilson Combat or any other brands which aren't well known and popular.

I always loved the rollmark...
Many rounds ran with that lower, but it's currently sitting in a drawer, because it's plastic.
Maybe I'll put a dedicated .22 upper on it, but otherwise, it's been mothballed. There's no reason to use a polly lower when Anderson exists.

If its one brand I dont see a lot of is ADM, granted the only thing ADM here is the lower but for the most part almost everything in the lower they use themselves(- trigger and buffer)
I really like the adm lowers when it comes to ambi controls I like what they did.
The right side bolt lever could be a tad larger but I see why they didnt and thats snag hazards.
Some day I will try out a full adm gun but for now I will be happy with just the lower.

Patriot Ordnance Factory? I have one of their older direct impingement rifles and it has ran excellent with several thousand rounds through her. This was before they put all the ambidextrous nonsense on it.

Not lesser known manufacturer but likely uncommon 5.56 model.
Lefty DPMS which uses a modified right-hand bcg. The bolt carrier has the gas vents on the same side as a left-handed carrier. It uses a left-hand bolt. BUT, the bolt rotates the same direction as a right-hand bolt due to the slot/cut in the carrier. I'm told a left-hand bolt in a conventional right-hand carrier will work however, instead of the extra gasses being exhausted out the ejection port, they would hit the right side of the inside of the upper spewing all that garbage to include down into the trigger assembly. It's different for sure.
Note the left-hand ejection port and solid right-side of upper with meaningless brass deflector. Shoots great.

It's not a character flaw. It's the smart thing to do. If you ever go to sell a gun, the box helps it bring more money. The perception is that it's less used and well taken care of. This is especially true when selling on GunBroker.

TBH, I'm hoping to get people a little more interactive by showing off their ARs and letting people ask questions. We have a main pic thread, but these get a bit more specific and might help the conversations.
Regarding the receiver choice, both will work, but its hard for me to say no to Centurion Arms stuff!

I had a 20" Pac West (PWA) HBAR back in the day... the ORIGINAL POS!!! Just as AR's took off (import ban era) they went out of business. Crappy firing pin was made of antimony, I'm pretty sure...

DS Arms is way better known for their FAL lineup than their AR's. This is their "ZM-4" rifle which is essentially a plain vanilla A4 clone, except in HBAR configuration. The mag is the standard aluminum gray flavor, but is showing up much lighter in tone in this picture. KAC M5 RAS is standard.

Thanks for the images Stick. I especially like appreciate your lower pics. Too many manufacturers don’t provide good images of their lowers. I know a lower is a lower (as long as it is in spec), but sometimes you just want to make a vanity purchase and get the lower with a cool rollmark.

Someone mentioned the Pegasus lower on a thread here, and I missed it. But that gunbroker price isn’t that far off, I don’t think, though it doesn’t have a parts kit.
I got a call last year about some upper, receiver and if I still wanted it. It had been so long, I had no clue what the gentleman on the other line was referring to. Then it hit me, it was the AR10B upper I was on the waiting list for since 2019. I screwed up my Noveske marked AR10 upper and couldn't find another one. Yeah they ran another batch.
The lower and upper are both unassembled, maybe I'll make it whole again and SBR it.

They manufacture M14 forged receivers. Top notch product. I think they dipped their toes with these M4 receivers. Sounds like some of the earlier units were iffy. I bought two and apparently got lucky with the quality and finish.

No, not at all. It's very smooth and crisp on that lower. I do have a couple of lowers (80% builds) that didn't have a distinct click and swapping safety brands didn't make a difference so I know it was the lowers. I think I have around 10 different lowers with BAD safeties and all of them feel fine. Making sure all the components are clean when installing and using the BAD-supplied detent is important. If the detent or spring drag in the receiver, it can make the feel indistinct.
I've been racking my brain to remember the name of a certain lower receiver that I haven't seen in years...
The logo had two AR-15 rifles crossed. Or maybe they were just upright, can't remember exactly. Also, there was some controversy with the owner having possible racist or white supremacist ties (true or not I have no idea).
Does this ring a bell to anyone?

I don't know - some combinations of parts can have issues sometimes. I think it's a stackup of tolerances. When I encounter something that's sticky I'll start checking the individual component fits, like is the safety axis moving freely in the receiver, is the detent moving freely etc. I also use very light oil.

Two reasons:
1) The FN billboard (as you said)
2) The FN rifles are the same in name only. Unlike Colt and others, the FN's are not made alongside the military versions. The US government required this in order for FN to get contracts.

To the best of my knowledge, the Lauer lowers were made by LMT, or at least that was the rumor and why I bought one. I have never heard anything linking Duracoat or Lauer to anything negative.

I recently changed my setup on a 2009 Era S&W M&P 15OR. The optic is a PA Aurora 1-6x and the handguard is an Aero Atlas 15". It feels pretty good set up like this.

I bought mine secondhand, although it was unused. I believe they retail for $200, plus tax and shipping; I paid $265 shipped. So I paid a bit of a premium but I have it and am not waiting on the next batch.
