Army Secretary Christine Wormuth separately told reporters that the U.S. will go from making 14,000 155mm shells each month to 20,000 by the spring and 40,000 by 2025. The service in recent days awarded contracts to three private companies to produce and deliver 155mm artillery: General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, American Ordnance, and IMT Defense.

That might be the only useful thing to come out of this conflict: ramping up our ability to produce munitions. Now to keep that production capacity up in the long term…

I don't think they are ramping up production just for Ukraine......:p

Likely be knee deep in this thing before it's over. You don't own a damned thing you're not standing on.
When they start cutting up Russia you can bet Americans will get a sweet slice of that pie.

I guess we'll just have to go to war with China now.

What about small arms ammunition, is that being produced here in the US for Ukraine?

One thing the war has highlighted is short sighted Western defense procurement policies. The fact that Stinger missiles had to be redesigned because none were procured for 15 years and the electronic components used back then are no longer made was an eye opener. It will take years to replenish and increase high tech weapons stocks like Excalibur and Javelins not to mention HIMARS rocket demand has gone through the roof.

I would imagine they are shipping existing stocks of M855 and backfilling with 855A1 or 6.8..
