View Full Version : Any reason not to use rifle buffer on 16" mid length gas...

I am considering doing a build with a 16-in barrel and mid-length gas system and a rifle length receiver extension or buffer tube and buffer.

I'm trying to make some sort of custom shoulder stock on a bare RE tube. The length of pull would be adjustable based on where the stock is clamped onto the RE.

Is there any functional or reliability reason why I should not use a rifle length receiver extension and rifle buffer on a 16-in mid-length gas system?

Personally I don't see a reason why not to but I do get things wrong and make mistakes or overlook things every once in awhile.

I use a rifle action in mine (A5), A5H2 buffer and green spring.
I'm swapping one A5 out on a rifle gas for an A2 as I don't need to collapse it and A2 length is good for me.

No, the rifle buffer system is fine with midlength upper.

My 16mid runs a rifle buffer, green springco spring and rifle tube.
