OK, so I had an SBR with a Magpul stock I didn't love, maybe and ACS or some Magpul deal. Nice stock just didn't love it on this gun. Oh this one :

http://i.imgur.com/DrepptU.jpg (https://imgur.com/DrepptU)

I thought it looked a little goofy and over big for an 10.5 SBR and seemed awkwardly large. I thought I should inventory my AR's and see if there is a good option to swop them out. Then thought, fck it, its only $70 just buy a BCM ( which I love ) and be done with it.

Here it is, very happy with it. Feels great, looks great..

So I go to put up my old Magpul stock away and low and behold..

I had something similar happen with Beretta mags. Thankfully, I found them before I bought more. I'm seriously good on M9 mags.

Kinda jealous of that SBR set-up!

Nice kit, but.....that height-above-bore of the Aimpoint. Didn't know they made the mounts that high! Dead-on hold for a 500m shot? :p

I too have bought gun things only to find out later that---oops---I already had one (or more).

Yep.

“Lost” a .22/250 bolt gun several yrs. back. Figured someone took/stole it at the farm.
Bought a replacement with rings and glass.
Found the “lost” gun under the bed in guest bedroom in a case. I saw it bought thought it was just an empty case; I stored overflow cases under that bed.

Wait….you really are running that RDS mount?

I thought it was a joke. Ha ha ha.

I used to own a BCM stock, but it broke. I’ve never broken a stick before, so I don’t plan to get another.

I bought the optic and mount set up off the EE, for a great deal, like $160 for both or some shite. When I got I was not happy, because I thought it was the lower mount without see through iron sight picture. However, I have been surprised the height over bore has not killed me on CQB drills and I think we sighted it in at 100 yards. We have had fun shooting this gun the last few weeks. Mark dropped his KAC like rail on it and it has been great to shoot. It has been a fun gun with great results.

I have a BCM modular stock. It's made of a bunch of smaller pieces. It hasn't broken yet but I don't find the construction confidence inspiring as it seems too much like Lego, which can feel quite solid until you drop an assembly and it explodes into component bricks. What part of yours broke?

I do that a lot with tools. I’ll “lose” something from my toolbox, only to find it somewhere after I already replaced it.

I don't have much for spare stuff sitting around, I actually just finished a gun made up of spare parts.

If it doesn't fit in the toolbox it's probably assembled already.

My supply of "extra parts" recently took a pretty good hit since I used a lot of them to put another gun together, but I have done that, albeit usually with less expensive items like grips or trigger guards.

Yo PB, tell me about those boots

Those are all leather Asolo boots I bought that were like new off Ebay for $40 and they are very expensive boots. I wanted them but didn't want to drop close to $300 on a pair. They have been great boots then last week mowing the yard, they blew out. I tried glueing them back but no luck. Arizona dry heat smoked the bottoms off of them.

Thought so. They’re kind of a niche item for normies, so I don’t see them often on the internets. I’ve got that exact model; had them for 12-15 years. They’ve been to Arizona (mostly Mirana and nearabout), and a few places kinda like Arizona, both alongside my ‘05 LaSportiva Latoks. Like the Latoks, I think they’ve been re-soled once, but don’t remember for sure, and the sole delaminated recently…not sure if it can be repaired anymore. I’ve more than gotten my money out of them.

Did you try Shoe goo? I rough up and clean the rubber, then apply the stuff as on the instructions and it works pretty well. Another great option is using barge cement, which is also pretty cheap stuff. With either, you need to prep the surface pretty well. I have used both methods pretty recently.

Yes this is post shoe glue. Cleaned and Loaded them up and viced them down. No luck which is a bummer. Might try a shoe smith or even thought about sending to mfg. but I’ve gotten years out of them so … still Sux.

I think we have all done it more than once.

I just had the opposite happen, i was looking for an IWB for my Grey Ghost framed pistols and none of them that were on the web page floated my boat. I was looking through my junk huge plastic bin and I found a old Blade Tech holster, it fit the guns and when I removed the belt loop off the back and drilled a hole it became my be IWB holster for these guns that have rails on them.

There’s a cobbler named Dave Page somewhere in the PNW that did a good job with my LaSportivas. I think he might be an Asolo guy, too, might have to check.

That's NOTHING.

What's worse is finding that oddball stock 5 years later and deciding to build a new gun around it that justifies it.

Maybe not so much duplicates, as the new shiny thing getting to parade around for three or four days before ending up in the box of shame, oh yeah.

Mine was the 9 thousand small Rifle Primers stacked individually behind the 5k boxes/sleeves of primers in the safe. To find out my primer position was 9k better than I thought was thrilling.

There was also one of Pappabear's 300 WM rifles in a case stuck behind my truck seat for weeks. I swore it wasn't "in my house"... and I was right!

yeah.... few years back... I bought an enormous gun safe. I had a small one, and had filled it to the brim, and had then been hiding shit... parts, guns, ammo, mags, you name it... all over the house. As I consolidated all my guns and gun stuff into that big ass safe..,.I found shit I'd forgotten I'd even order. Some of it still in the plastic. Years later, and I'm STILL finding shit I forgot about. I feel your pain, brother.

Lol...I remember seeing someone around these parts refer to a spare muzzle device as an "AR seed." So true.

Back to original post, I had an experience where I tried to change my bolt setup on my 308AR from a JP LMOS QPQ to a shiny chrome lined bcg. Did some research online and was zeroing in on either a Fail Zero nickel boron or a chromed JP FMOS bcg. One weekend was going through some gun boxes I had stored in the back closet and stumbled upon a fairly new chrome lined Young Manufacturing NM bolt carrier I apparently bought a long time back and never used :dance3:

Sitting on a couple buffer tubes, an M16 trigger and a safety selector.

Various other stuff that doesn't really matter.
I should really see what some stuff I have in baggies are because I don't know what half the stuff I have left anymore is.

That’s better than knowing you have a part, tucked away in a storage bin. You look. Not there. Look in all your hidey holes and do not find it. Swear you are losing your mind. Maybe you hgave it away. Maybe you threw it away.?. But whatever, it’s gone.

When I lose things like tools that get used very often, the best way to find it is to buy a replcement. And start the 24 hour clock; the lost one will appear within that time.

Know what’s worse? I decided to post up a like-new Steiner CQBL-1 for sale, buttons, and flashlight since I haven’t picked up NODs yet. And now I can’t find that box.

I don't remember exactly, since it's been quite a few years. I think the problem was with the adjustment lever or its spring since the pin wasn't locking into the receiver extension.

I'm 'pretty good' with gun parts and magazines, but thankfully from 2015-2018, I bought several cases of 22LR that I forgot about. Just sitting in the closet just like they day they arrived. Nothing like finding 15K of 22LR. Looking at those invoices compared to what it costs today is eye watering in such a short amount of time.

Last time I moved I found eight .50 cal ammo cans sandwiched between my safe and the back wall of the closet I had wedged it into. None were full, but “found” a good amount of .22, .40, .38, and some 5.56 range ammo.

At first I had a wtf moment, then remembered I had put them back there to take advantage of the empty space (closet ceiling slants down at the back and the safe wouldn’t back all the way to the wall).

Not an aimpoint. It’s a sig.

Also, the Unity mount is great. I love the height personally. It’s very comfortable and it has an integral rear BUIS in the mount.

Guess I'll come clean.......almost 2 years ago , after my wife had a stroke we moved from the mountains down to a lower elevation to make life easier for her. I bought a much larger safe and finally had plenty of room for all my stuff, plus other valuables. Recently I was ordering things in the safe and inspecting/wiping down all the guns. I kept feeling something wasn't right, and looking at the pistol racks I realized my 6" 629 wasn't there. After a frantic search of the entire house I still couldn't find it. That led to tearing everything outta the storage cabinets. I found it, right in the blue box it came in, where I had put it for the move. 🤣 getting old sucks.
