View Full Version : Sling mount to distal end of buffer tube?

I am looking for a way to mount a sling near the distal end of a bare A5 receiver extension.

I think this Blackhawk mount (https://www.blackhawk.com/accessories/sling-adapters/ar-15%2Fm4-storm-sling-adapter/BH-71SA05BK.html) could attach over the rail section of the extension. Other clamps I have found either don't have the notch for the rail (two piece rings) or are intended to shroud the castle nut, which would leave a raised lip if mounted at the other end of the tube.

The Thordsen cover does not fit A5 extensions AFAICT and the sling mount is at the proximal end anyway.

Any suggestions?

You can always switch to a Carbine buffer if you really want the QD in that spot.

Not keen on 6061 or changing tubes. Thanks nevertheless.

I ordered the Blackhawk mount. I will post what I think of it when I have tried it.
