What does the forum think of this upper?

I like how short it is.

I bet the blast is horrific.

Noveske generally makes quality gear. And if 300B.O. is your thing it should a good upper.

A short 300 has noticeably less muzzle blast than a 223 does.

So I watched that whole video, thank you for it. I hadn’t seen it and found it very informative.

But I honestly see the OP post an upper it seemed John would have liked. He said he liked short slick guns. That upper has a totally reasonable barrel length for suppressed subsonic use.

What should I expect if I don't use a suppressor on this upper?

I think it is too short for a good powder burn on supers. So for that it’s not great.

You could shoot this un suppressed with subs. The subs would likely reach full velocity. With out a suppressor of would still be loud. However blast would basically not exist. It would be as loud as a 45 pistol about and as blasty.

If you are not going to use a suppressor the same upper with with a 11-12” barrel would be better.

If you like short this upper is good for it. At least it’s not 223. That would be dumb. With 300 it’s still a decent option comparatively.

Not sure about this one but I have a 5.56 7.5” PWS upper and even with a silencerco saker it’s still stupid loud. Along with the not-so-great ballistics it’s strictly a range toy.

I also have a 300bo 9” PWS and with a leftover aac tirant 45k shooting sure it’s much better. Also a range toy but certainly less obnoxious and more usable.

People still shoot 300BLK? I thought it was a necro post at first.

It would be interesting to see the trend over time. I would bet you go back a few years and 300blk held a bunch more market than that. I am assuming this is search/sales volume. Not sure how they track actual sales unless they have affiliate deals set up. So most likely this is a percentage of overall searches performed on their site.

Short, suppressed and subsonic it does very well. It’s no replacement for 5.56, it’s a niche, but fills it nicely. It would be hard to fill the same niche better. The fact it uses so many existing parts is also very convenient.

Can't get a suppressor.

If I get subsonic 300 - and wore hearing protection - would that be good enough to enjoy this upper?

How would THAT compare to a 10.5 inch 5.56?

300BLK supers in an 8" barrel are less blasty than a 10.5" 556.

300BLK subs compared to a 10.5" 5.56 aren't even a comparison. It's basically a 9mm with a longer barrel.

That is huge news to me!

I'm interested even if the ammo costs a fortune!
