My question is actually quite simple for the experts on here (me not being one).

I have been using standard Colt 30round mags for shooting at my range and have had zero problems with any of them for that purpose. I plan on taking a couple of Vickers Carbine courses in the near future and I understand that that is the type of heavy use that generally exposes weakness in equipment.

My local shop has some new ones from HK but they want 50.00 fnnn bucks apeice. I know they are good but for petes sake are they that good?

I cant find Pmags anywhere and have given up on looking at this point, so these appear to be what I am left with.

I have no problem paying for quality but I also dont want to be a idiot either.

I dont think it matters but they will be used in my 6920 and my (incoming) LMT MRP.

Thoughts????

Don't even waste your money.

USGIs are fine.

I wouldn't spend the money on the HK mags. If you're wanting a solid mag for a fraction of the cost, pick up some Magpul PMAGs. They're becoming more difficult to find, and some places are raising their prices on them, but they would be my top choice.

For kicks and giggles, here's a video of the PMAG being tested, Magpul style.

Magazines were the source of many reliability issues. Being full of mud was part of it but others were getting beaten up quite a bit and the dings and dents in the side walls hamper the functionality. Also since there are about a gazillion countries that make AKs there are different variances in manufacturing. This means your Chinese mag might not fit correctly into the Romanian AK was built on an American receiver. All of the AR-15 magazines had issues with mud but the MagPul “P-Mags” did the best job overall, by a wide margin, during the 12 days

Pmags are honestly not hard to get. Call Lindey at Charles Daly, he gets an order in every week or so, and he will ship them to you. They are about $15 a pop. I ordered 15 and within 2.5 weeks I was out shooting with them. Make the call. Get'er done. Charles Daly Defense, speak to Lindsey, get on the list, get your Pmags. Done.

If he's already got USGI mags, Cprod would be a step down.

I wouldn't take anything from Cprod even if it were FREE.

Order Pmags and wait, I use the HK's as well (issued), they're great, but if your buying them, they're way overpriced. BTW, they're steel and a lot heavier than Pmag and USGI.

Check with sogarmory.com, they had plenty of Pmags last that I checked. They had plenty left over at the last gun show 2 weekends ago and had another large shipment hitting the loading dock.

No problem. I had a few of my pals call Charles Daly Defense and order Pmags and all got them in a very reasonable time and at a very fair price. I respect a company like that that is not out trying to price gauge me after I just purchased one of thier rifles. They treated me like human and gave me good service/prices. ;) Thanks Charles Daly Defense!
