View Full Version : Winchester/Olin salvo assault rifle
Has anyone here got a full image of this weapon?, Below is only the front of it and all i can find but im sure its some cool weapon. It is fed from 2 mags and the bolt has two faces. Not sure if it is a bullpup or a front magazined rifle. However it is at the Springfield Armoury museum.
The foresight seems to be that of an AR10/M16

Small Arms of the World has pictures of the 1964 Winchester SP1W gun, but not the Project SALVO guns. Interesting.
The Black Rifle has a diagram of this weapon on page 55. It's not a bullup design.
Colectors Grade publishing did a Volume just on the SALVO tests, its in that book. Try IDSA books or Colectors garde directly.

Constantbull,
I notice that you seem to pop in, make a quick little quip and then disappear. Maybe you are just an odd cat..... I hope that you are not some silly troll however as we really don't need that here.

Yep, that's the one. For all intents and purposes, it is a double-barrel FN FAL with a single gas system. Ironically, it was designed by Stefan K. Janson, who left the UK after his EM2 rifle was rejected in favor of the FAL. It was chambered for the duplex version of the .22/30 Light Rifle.
Janson's patent for the gas system can be found online: US Patent #2,935,915 (http://www.google.com/patents?id=IoJgAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA1&dq=&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=0_1#PPA1,M1)
PS: Note that the SANHS staff ripped off an earlier version of my SPIW article from "The Gun Zone" while giving no author credit and the wrong URL.
